a lot of people are quoting this and saying things like “standing up for trans rights is a winning political strategy” and while I agree with this, win or lose standing up for trans rights is important - no, vital - because it’s the right thing to do.

This is the advice I give people a lot. I’ve been out as trans for 8-ish years, I’ve been sober for just over 6 of them. I always say that they are both things I wanted to fix all the broken parts of me, and what they did instead was give me a life worth putting the necessary work into.
realistically, the only problems transition and sobriety can solve are the problems of having not transitioned and not being sober. that’s it. but it's not nothing.

This is one of the things I used to talk about a lot. One of the characteristics of Whiteness is that it cannot be interrogated. It cannot be assigned traits. Whiteness and its works are treated as "default". Never part of a trend that can be identified. Especially if that trend is negative.
This is continued journalistic malpractice from the @startribune.com normalizing a violent white male suspect. He owned a private security company called Praetorian Guard, traveled overseas to preach against abortion and LGBTQ+ people, and attended a bible college that preaches "violent prayer."
