in the same way that Dem policies poll a lot better when you don't prime voters to think about how we pay for them, R policies poll a lot better when voters aren't primed to think about how we enforce them, and Dems should do more to leverage that

The reason people are concerned about lefties saying “I won’t vote for a moderate Dem” isn’t because they want Newsom. It’s because lefties keep not voting for moderate Dems!

I think all the scolding about it being years til the primary would hit a little harder if WE DIDN’T JUST GO THROUGH THIS

I think what’s funny to me here is that people make up really specific-sounding shit (“I eat one egg a day and would notice if it went up by 2%”) and then call Stancil pedantic when he does the math problem *they literally created to sound rigorous.*
If you're eating one egg a day, a 2% increase in egg costs raises your egg spending by about two dollars annually. You'd notice this?

This is a popular bit of wishcasting, you see it in both left and centrist-y versions, and it is absolutely not true. Populism is about identity and exclusion, it is not people lashing out because they secretly yearn for whatever your preferred economic policy is.
"The Ascent of populist movements is telling us that governments have have strayed too far from being responsive to the working class"

This is probably the only area where AOC agrees with JD Vance and Josh Hawley.

I compare Trump to Cataline often because of the lessons everyone learned from him: did the Republic succeed because their guardrails prevented Cataline from seizing power, or did Cataline fail because he was a hubristic moron?

Europe hopes the former, the Germans think the latter.
Europeans (except Germans) tend to think the continent can ride out Donald Trump, and that once he is no longer president US foreign policy towards Europe will return to how it was before
