I say this as someone whose entire job is finding the narrow use cases in which AI is actually useful:
All the fear about AI, all the reluctance to adopt it, is entirely legitimate, and a product of the fact that it's been foisted on the public with no consideration of its negative externalities.

Geneticist here. Anyone telling you that they can just change intelligence (which isn't what IQ measures well anyways) by fiddling with a few genes is just straight-up grifting, it doesn't work like that. And yes it's basically definitionally eugenics.

I know this is the cost of progress, and that the progress is real and that's why it is this bad now - but with it feels like with every year since about 2015 we excavate a fresh new low of our society's contempt for women and girls. Before the weight of the past dirt has had time to settle.

The message from Dems the rest of the year should be simple: Trump must resign over Epstein

Democrats at every level of power could simply repeat "he must resign" over and over and over again. It's what the GOP would do if the situation were reversed. Further erode his power by pushing him to lash out more.
