Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

heartbreaker goal notwithstanding it's more good news than bad imo. still not the level of fluidity in attack we wasn't to see but discipline wise we clearly belong at the top of the table, and are capable of creating quality chances and defending in open play against quality opposition #COYS

Her husband told her that detainees at Broadview had to get up at 5am to get in line for one bathroom. He often peed himself. One time he had to wait until 2pm to use the bathroom. You could only use the bathroom once a day. He said the agents would beat you if you used the bathroom on yourself.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

Daycares in our neighborhood are no longer answering their doors after morning drop-off. Parents have to call the daycare when they arrive and they let them in for pickup. It's insane how we live now.
ICE isn’t going after the worst of the worst. This morning, they took a preschool teacher without a warrant IN FRONT OF CHILDREN in my district.

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

As a NYer, ”real” “small town” America now looks like a sexual freak zoo run by genital-obsessive xenophobes who make women into living dolls and shoot each other. Mamdani’s NYC (and mine) is a safe, wholesome place where neighbors help each other, do scavenger hunts, ride bikes, and birdwatch.

I think a major thing in our culture that changed is a bunch of Dem elites also now believe false things too because they're cooking their brains on Twitter, a fascist controlled brainwashing machine, all day.
The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.
Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇

Important to note that Biden cared more about not even being accused of breaking the barrier than about maintaining it. Trump and others had committed crimes, it’s not political payback to go after that, even if he would be accused of it.
In the long run, Biden keeping that wall between himself and DOJ - leading to the conviction and humiliation of his son - achieved absolutely nothing. The standard is gone. The incentive for future presidents is to punish your enemies and say "your mom, lol" when reporters ask about it.
there are good & worthwhile historical & legal arguments for why the unitary executive is nonsense but to my mind the most straightforward argument is that it makes no logical sense that the president has absolute removal power over the people whose job it is to keep the executive branch accountable

A robust welfare state and pension program is what should exist as the “low effort, low risk” option, but that doesn’t really exist here.

Nationalize Vanguard and set up a SWF that pays retirements and let elected officials pressure companies to meet social ends?
