Rutan is a personal hero, and I'm still annoyed I was born 10 years too late to be part of the Vari-/Long-EZ builders community. 😡

(Technically I could build one now since archives of the plans are available, but the community was the remarkable thing and a big part of the success of that design.)

Rutan’s designs suggest he visualized fluids in a way most folks can’t understand. The guy designed elegant new ideas for decades while most designers iterated, and did much of it before computers were fast enough to model the effects ahead of time!
