Dimon on why JPMorgan Chase is not funding WH Ballroom:
We have an issue, which is anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful how anything is perceived, and also how the next DOJ is going to deal with it.

I really appreciate that @pbsnews.org ended the interview with this graphic.

It captures, in the simplest and starkest terms, the brutal arithmetic driving this country's homelessness catastrophe.

my “AI is over” anecdote is that my wife was hired over the summer to write scripts for a big tech company explaining how to use their AI tools and after many rounds of revisions, the latest notes said “we’re finding a lot of AI fatigue among our users” and to remove all references to AI
Anecdotally on twitter seeing a big shift the last few days from every AI slop account saying every other creative field is “over” and they’re in control now to now posting about how nobody likes them and it’s not fair and they’ll persevere and real artists respect and uplift eachother

IMO, it raises the question of how useful are executives?
A study by Dayforce shows 87% of executives use AI for work, compared to 57% of managers and just 27% of employees.

I think this explains the massive disconnect we see in how CEOs talk about AI versus everyone else. It also raises the question of how useful it truly is for frontline work?
Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests
Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

I feel like actually access to knowledge and learning is a universal good which shouldn't be available only to the rich, to the 'time rich', to the 'clever', or to the 'hard-working'. It should literally be available to everyone to engage with, for enrichment, for knowledge, for a better world.
I wish there was more emphasis on access to education disentangled from employability and focusing instead on enrichment because people who engage with education (or have the ability to) as enrichment interact with it differently. (And that's a whole society thing, not an in-uni thing) 7/7

Call your elected officials. Get loud. Tell them you’re demanding public health leaders follow the science.

The science says that the COVID vaccine is not only safe, but it saves lives.

Long Covid has surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in children.

The kids deserve protection
In a new leaked memo, the FDA outlined plans to make it much harder to get new vaccines approved, claiming, without sharing evidence, that the COVID vaccines have killed at least 10 children.

This is so reckless. The science shows us that COVID vaccines have saved millions of lives.

good thread all around, consistent with my brief stint teaching undergrads, even in a field they enjoy and know is competitive

on connection in particular AI sells "you don't need to ask, involve, or interact with other people"

my own suspicions include some element of collective covid fog effects
This is not a "students today" post--it's more "this is a new form of dysfunction" that doesn't look exactly like it's been in previous decades. It's more than just "first-year chaos." It's an across-the-board inability to process instructions, engage with longer texts, and *connect* with others.

Reading the deposition he gave in Chicago you can understand why it is that Judge Ellis tore into him.

The first substantive question is "What is your role in Operation Midway Blitz?" Bovino essentially gives his title and no further details. 8 pages later, the lawyer gives up.

This is explicitly confirming the allegation: that he's ordering the killings for their own sake. The logical implication of which is hit them again if there are any survivors, which is both exactly what the Post reported and a cold-blooded textbook war crime.
