Dad running for NY-02 to make Long Island more affordable for working families. #LGM. #WideAwakes
Pinned
Long Island deserves a Representative who fights for working families and stands up to Trump’s attacks. Meanwhile, Andrew Garbarino can’t even wake up to vote.

I'm running for Congress because I know we can fight our way out of this. Be a day 1 donor: secure.actblue.com/donate/garre...

They want to scare people out of posting ICE-critical content, because they know these posts are turning even their supporters against them. But the better option is to take a page out of their playbook and flood the zone.
Posting about ICE on Instagram is now enough to get you an “administrative subpoena.” 👀

a lot of social media problems since the mid-2010s have been the consequences of the kingmakers of the business and tech side belatedly realizing that they created a platform where every type of obscure communist -- unknown to even grizzled veterans of marxist theory seminars - -could yell at them

The MA housing crisis is a moral issue, but there is an underlying political crisis as well.

People move to cheaper places if they can’t afford sky-high housing costs.

“Blue” states are throwing away electoral power to “Red” states in congressional apportionment and the EC because of NIMBYism.
Opponents say it's about saving a forest but it's the same old NIMBYism: "Ultimately, many residents simply don’t want a big housing development there ... And that a large apartment complex would be out of character in a suburban neighborhood known for larger single-family homes."
The state wants to build housing on a parking lot in Wellesley. Residents are up in arms. - The Boston Globe
A proposal to build apartments near MassBay Community College has sparked  a local backlash, illustrating how housing can be immensely complicated in Massachusetts.

To my surprise, CDC is still tracking how many children RFK condemns to measles. Cases are getting younger and, of course, it is spreading faster.

There are fundamentally two Americas: the Union and the Confederacy. Our current struggle is about which we choose to be.
The answer is they don’t like the US, they like the Confederacy. Explicit, codified, unashamed racism ruled by oligarchic elites. Strict social codes and mores that buttress the entire thing who themselves were built on misremembered imagined histories.

My immigration plan is "if you want to become an American citizen we should have a system that is simple and straightforward to make that happen in a timely fashion".
How about trying pro-immigrant? Stand with the Statue of Liberty. To be a magnet for the skilled and striving, which benefits the US as a whole.

Could a party please represent the majority of Americans who want immigration maintained or increased, not only cater to the 30% that want it decreased?

This is what ICE does every day. Hunt little kids who are here legally. They get sent to a place called the “baby jail” in Texas. Very little of it ends up on video like this. But it’s routine. And disgusting.

Sort of gives away the lie that they're arresting hardened criminals who are drags on society when they're setting up traps to lure in Good Samaritans
CCTV footage appears to show DHS agents posing as people having car trouble in order to lure a target out of his house before arresting them. The target comes out and starts helping them before 3 vehicles surround the scene. The car "experiencing" trouble then drives off with them.

It's worth noting that historically and socially, when you're putting yourself on the opposite side of teenagers like this, traditionally history doesnt look too kindly on you.
This week we had plenty of student protests. This is the USA it is all of our rights under the FIRST AMENDMENT but these people have been showing up and starting trouble with high school kids. This was one in Blaine.

Unironically basically the only thing I've gone out of my way to catch this year is curling.

This is a sentence I previously could not have imagined saying.
When curling isn't on tv, everyone should be asking, "where's curling?"

Tamar, scientists lean left (insofar as they do, which depends on the topic or context) because the left is correct and objective observation of reality reveals this. i understand that your job does not permit you to believe this (she’s a WaPo contributor) but ppl don’t arbitrarily choose beliefs
This study doesn't "prove" science is biased because it's "left leaning" at all, this lady is just lying

I was going to reply to her but she's muted by being on a Jesse Singal Following list so I didn't bother

It really is amazing how much of political punditry, *especially* elite outfits in NYC and Washington, still embrace this bizarre idea that rural spaces represent the "Real America" while metropolitan areas, where most (presumably real) Americans actually live, should be held in contempt.
Just going to point out again that our arbitrary political rules permit Republicans to attack urban areas with impunity but strictly forbid the faintest whiff of condescension toward rural areas by Democrats
“The first thing I thought was, ‘What is she talking about?’” said Bryan Fish, the vice mayor of Culver City, whom everyone calls Bubba but doesn’t look like someone whom everyone calls Bubba. “The only crime here,” he added, “is like the $18 strawberry at Erewhon.”

I always like to tell this story but during WWII, a 23 year old PHD mathematician from Harvard was able to solve the 8th Air Force’s gunnery problem in like 2 months without spending a day in the military (turns out you have to lead your target)
Hegseth to US military: if you get into MIT, we won't let you attend because of the risk that you will be exposed to ideas hostile to MAGA when you study there.

In 1854, after watching the federal government deploy 2000 federal troops and spend $40,000 sending Anthony Burns back into slavery, Boston's Amos Adams Lawrence said “we went to bed one night old-fashioned, conservative, Compromise Union Whigs and waked up stark mad Abolitionists.”
