My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

Ghana’s foreign minister just posted this to X:

“The Ghanaian Government is pleased to note that our refusal to accept Abrego Garcia has been duly acknowledged and complied with by the US Department of Homeland Security.”

The Ghanaian Government is pleased to note that our refusal to accept Abrego Garcia has been duly acknowledged and complied with by the US
Department of Homeland Security.
We have also followed with satisfaction that DHS has today taken the appropriate steps to inform Garcia's lawyers and amend court submissions to reflect the fact that Ghana cannot be an option for Garcia's deportation.
The Mahama Administration will continue to be transparent and truthful to Ghanaians at all times.

I've said it dozens of times. City government should put up live cams around the ICE facilities, the downtown area, and have them broadcast live feed, 24/7, on the city's website so people can go look for themselves whenever they wish.

If I lived in Portland I’d be filming daily videos of the reality there and sending them to every single person in my contacts.

Now THAT Is a good question.

But then the post wouldn't get as much *~*EnGaGeMeNt*~*

Yes as well as DHS i believe. But that just means private shipping cos will jack up prices on everything
internethuman.bsky.social
They are a private shipping company. Unlike the USPS i dont believe its a felony to tamper with it.

The left needs a legitimate answer for what to do about police in the short term. Not just vaguely pointing to a defund or abolish position, but how to safely neutralize their power and dismantle the institution over time
internethuman.bsky.social
Hell, even if they plan to rig the 26/28 elections they will still need manage dissent and can't have an openly hostile populace.
internethuman.bsky.social
What i want to know is how they think this plays out? Like do they think that the people being laid off will blame Dems? Or that employees don't have families, friends, neighbors, etc. Who won't blame Trump/Vought for the harm done to someone they personally know?
internethuman.bsky.social
Exactly! More people need to frame these things as it just being a broken tool, something that does not work.

If i had a tool, a device, or anything that only worked 75% of the time (which is generous for LLMs). Can you imagine if your phone just didn't work 25% of the time? Or a car?

A former DOGE staffer developed an AI tool that hallucinated the size of Veterans Affairs contracts.

For example, it concluded that more than a thousand deals were each worth $34 million, when in fact some were for as little as $35,000.

DOGE Developed Error-Prone AI Tool to “Munch” Veterans Affairs Contracts
We obtained records showing how a Department of Government Efficiency staffer with no medical experience used artificial intelligence to identify which VA contracts to kill. “AI is absolutely the wron...

George was just trying to get to work.

ICE pepper-sprayed him, dragged him from his car, locked him in a detention center, and placed him on suicide watch. He even missed his young daughter’s birthday in the process.

This man is a veteran and American citizen. Don't look away.

"They put me on suicide watch and they put me in the cell, I'm naked, in like a hospital dress and just a concrete bed with like a mattress, like a thin mattress and, they leave the light on 24/7."

This brown skinned landscaper was minding his business on a job in Edgewater when 3 masked ICE thugs took him away. Then on leaving the 3 reportedly got out of their car, turned their guns on a woman and tried to get into her car for apparently driving too close searching for parking near her home

"Complicity" includes financial support, eg donations to religious or social institutions that give to the entity. "Incitement" includes
spreading propaganda. Don't cry "persecution" if this means you and everyone you love are forever exposed to the consequences. Your
fault.

One curious thing on this site about speaking out against the encroachment of LLMs is that inevitably you get accused of being anti-tech. I don’t hate technology. I’ve used machine learning in my own code before. But I also recognize that oligarchs are so hellbent on pushing this tech for a reason.

Trans people are like 1% of the total population. Harris did not lose because of Trumps ad attacking them and thinking that is pathetic.

If it had ANY impact on dem voters it was due to Harris' response. She showed that she would let the vulnerable die if it meant getting a 2pt bump in kansas.
internethuman.bsky.social
Step 4- Potentially under the DOJ, establish a department to investigate and prosecute wrongdoings by law enforcement. Make sure that this is separate and insulated from other law enforcement. They must be actively hostile and adversarial to the cops they investigate.
internethuman.bsky.social
be based on their subjective fear. It should be based on the objective reality of the situation based on what a 'reasonable person' would fear and if cops act badly they should be punished more harshly than the general public for the same actions because they are a public servant.
internethuman.bsky.social
Step 3- Establish criminal enhancements for violations of the public trust and adopt a 'reasonable person' standard for police violence. Cops are trained public servants, they should be held to a HIGHER standard than the general public. If a cop shoots someone because they were afraid it shouldn't
internethuman.bsky.social
step 2- Neuter police unions. completely outlaw the inclusion of union restrictions on holding cops accountable. A Union can argue for better hours, pay, benefits, etc. But fuck off with limiting how an officer can be disciplined or charged after they commit a crime.
internethuman.bsky.social
The trouble is that law enforcement is so patchwork across the country. Hard to do anything to revamp that all at once.

step 1- establish unarmed/automated enforcement for mundane things. Meter maids, speed cameras, etc. The point being to reduce the things cops do that "require" being armed.

Three key points:
1) The admin has been planning mass firings to begin in October since February
2) The work necessary to carry out mass firings is illegal during a shutdown, violating the Antideficiency Act, which carries a criminal penalty
3) This harms America, ridding us of talent and expertise
