it’s amazing how many people fundamentally do not grasp that the reason the world decided to *start* using international law to govern war is because most leaders at the time were able to grasp that LOAC made things less horrible for *everyone*

I don't know what the point of saying this is—but he has no legal authority whatsoever to do any of that. There's is no AUMF for any strikes on any of these parties. Moreover, these would be strikes on sovereign States that we are not in a state of armed conflict with.

Apparently every Chinese academic in any field of “interest” to the PLA is getting their visa rejected for, more or less, presumptively being a spy. My friend’s visa is denied because she studies “neuroscience.” What she actually studies is jaw pain - but ICE is flatly rejecting all appeals.

In my first Foreign Service tour, my assistant in the Commercial Section was Somali. While their country has been wracked by violence in the years since, I have known and worked with Somalis here in the U.S. and abroad. They were/are honorable, kind, friendly. POTUS should be ashamed.

One thing that all this throwing subordinates under the bus does is confirm for anyone who still doubted it that it was a war crime or jusr murder.
Anyone who was trying to defend it is now hearing, from the top, yes this was a horrific crime that I am desperate to blame on anyone but me.
