I nearly got run over this morning by a driver in an SUV who was turning right at a stop sign and looking left waiting for cars to pass and didn't look right to see me and my dog crossing in front of them just as the lane was clear. Fortunately, the back of my hand hit their hood and nothing else.
the fact that early-stage automated vehicles that still occasionally require remote operation assistance are like several orders of magnitude safer than the average American driver should be the real wakeup call here, not the idea that these vehicles still sometimes need remote operation assistance

the real wake up call is why aren't we probing:
1. why no interlock devices on all cars for any drunk driver for life
2. why no speed governor on all cars for everyone
3. why are giant pickup trucks still allowed to exist

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

something I think is a pretty huge looming problem is the normalization of Trump in the simple sense that there is a generation of voters that have grown up with politics being The Donald Trump Show
If:
-The loss in 2024 wasn't due to leftists abstaining
-There are a huge number of voters who weren't won over

Then:
The people who need to be won over aren't leftists

I don't think they're politically coherent; they want "normal" and believed people in their bubbles saying that Trump is normal

We've normalized it all. We normalized kiddie rape with the Epstein Files. No one is being punished.

We're normalizing the Gestapo and concentration camps. We talk about bodycams for murderers and less money for kid prisons.

We re-elected the guy who did J6. 2009 is happening with crypto now.
To recap the White House's official position, the racist video was posted erroneously by a staffer and they took it down, but even if it was posted on purpose, the outrage would have been fake because the post was fine and inspired by the Lion King

Being senile doesn’t turn somebody who’s not racist into a racist, but don’t we know old folks? It makes them no longer give any fucks about expressing how they really feel.

You know a politician is thinking about running for president when they start making moves on foreign policy: AOC will be headed to the Munich Security Conference and will speak in Berlin with a member of Germany's Social Democratic Party.

If he had a boss, it was the leaders of the Russian mafia/intelligence apparatus. Putin/Mogilevich. But I think the org structure is more like a board with people like them, him, Thiel, the Mercers, MBS/Netanyahu, Kushner (representing the Trumps), etc all coordinating

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

I was just denied entry to the Dilley detention facility while my constituent, seven-year-old Diana, remains inside.

What kind of sick, horrific conditions are children being forced to endure in there?

I will be back tomorrow. Accountability can’t wait.

You can also get scratch repair equipment, but not all scratches can be repaired. A quick trick is hold the cd/dvd up to the light. If you can see through it, not repairable. If you can't, might be repairable depending on depth.
Also thrift stores have SO many DVDs. Check for scratches before buying, but it’s such a cheap way to build a collection.

Men are not trash. Perpetuating that narrative helps normalize rape culture by making it seem like it's just inherent to their nature. It's not.

Men are human beings. The social system of patriarchal masculinity is what's trash, and it hurts them too. We can change that.
