"Research would tell us that most ICE agents entered into these jobs in part because they want approval, and they want to affirm their masculinity in public," said sociologist Nicole Bedera. "An ICE watch works by surrounding these people ... with disapproval."
Observing ICE agents is 'a de-escalation tactic,' sociologist says
The federal government has accused ICE watchers of breaking the law. Sociologist Nicole Bedera said ICE watchers have science behind them. She spoke with MPR News host Clay Masters.

Cyberpunk 2077 in that it's about characters navigating complex systems with brutal power dynamics, but the setting is very different.

Elantris for its multiple perspectives. Tho I approach this differently, instead of parallel events that converge, I use this in a single forward-moving story. 1/2

My urge to call a rock in a video game "Nerve Agent" notwithstanding, this is a very good thread on the risks of conflating chemical weapons with nerve agents.

Dan Kaszeta is an expert on chemical weapons.
Something that has some reaction or effect on the nervous system is not a "nerve agent". A stick or a rock is not a nerve agent, but it can have an effect on the nervous system. So can a glass of wine.

I’m seeing lots of people on here misunderstand the purpose of ICE watch.

It’s de-escalation. And it’s grounded in the social science of violence. 🧵

*much worse for him if institutions to hold him accountable were functional.
Let’s talk about something. The fact that the ICE agent who murdered Renee Good was dragged by a moving vehicle in a prior incident is not a defense, it actually makes the situation much worse for him.

You know the fact that ai can replicate and create csam means it was trained on csam right?

The builders of the ai had to train their systems to create those images.

Hard truth of this is they know what they are building.

What I haven't seen people talk about is that foreign press is generally outside of the US government's ability to coerce into self-censorship.

Firing at a foreign journalist is plausibly an intentional effort to get them to withdraw, giving the federal regime tighter control of the narrative.

While some compare a massive US military parade with authoritarian displays seen under oppressive regimes, others point out that sometimes a domineering display of military might is simply a show of patriotism and a way to drive up recruitment at a time when it is so desperately needed.

The Trump HHS approach to transgender youth is not "greater emphasis on psychtherapy." It is "ONLY psychotherapy," with the explicit goal of making trans youth no longer transgender.

It IS conversion therapy.
