Just flipping through the endnotes, how could possibly write about American strategic bombing in WWII and not include any work by Richard overy, Michael Sherrill, literally any study of the air tactical school, or the official AAF histories lol?

i think that the issue is that people who think we’re resistant to persuasion are correct that they disagree with us at a foundational level on things like “is disorder good” and “do we just want to start fires” and i haven’t seen arguments that would change our minds on that

Trump let the first ceasefire lapse, then got to sign a shiny new one, which is presently falling apart, but how many Americans will ever hear about it?
But Bezos had $75 million to spend on Melania’s vanity project.

A lot of this is downstream of a very persistent, very blithe "Persuasion? Oh that's someone else's job" thought-termination.

'at the barest minimum to think creatively'; an all-timer of a mic drop.
This is brilliant. I'm so grateful for this testimony. I've transcribed it to use in letters I'm writing. Sharing the full transcription here (see alt text to copy/paste it):

As all these legacy ogs are going to be hollowed out into Breitbart News Network-tier axe-grinding rags, and smart readers will turn to publications that still have some standards.
The Washington Post editorial board articles about Mamdani are actually disgusting. It’s hard to surprise me but my jaw dropped when they referred to him as “generalissimo” in the first paragraph.

One of the reasons I believe in the staying power of independent and worker-owned and nonprofit journalism is that, with increasing frequency, traditional outlets are deciding to crank out lazy pro-billionaire agitprop that insults their readers’ intelligence
The Washington Post Editorial Board Is Spectacularly Awful at Legal Analysis
Since Bezos overhauled the board earlier this year, it has been very good at cranking out billionaire-friendly propaganda. It is quite bad at everything else.
