Just got gassed pretty good at the labor union anti-ICE protest in Portland. Massive march, 5-10k strong. Vibes were very much liberal rather than radical. Lots of kids and older folks.

They gassed the whole crowd as soon as it marched on ICE, in broad daylight.

When it comes to the Border Patrol, Border Chronicle cofounder, Todd Miller, literally wrote the book. "Border Patrol Nation" back in 2014. He predicted much of this. And his piece today highlights what the media and others are missing now. It's a must read🦂
Border Patrol Nation?
For decades, the Border Patrol has operated with extraconstitutional powers along the U.S.-Mexico divide. Now it’s leading the charge in U.S. cities across the country.

Brother, I have pitched your outlet on this for half a decade.
A major under-covered story.
Five years have passed since Myanmar’s military staged a coup against the government.

Since February 1, 2021, the junta has decimated almost every facet of life in Myanmar.

The junta’s impunity needs to end.

Haven't seen the details, but "require ICE to coordinate with local authorities" sounds a lot like "authorize local cops to help ICE kidnap people."
SCHUMER says Democrats are “united” behind three DHS reforms

1/ End roving patrols; tighten the rules on warrants and require ICE to coordinate with local authorities.

2/ Enforce accountability; a uniform code of conduct.

3/ Require masks off, body cameras on, agents carry ID.

My god.

This is one of the most horrible things I ever seen.

Guy is clearly trying to help the woman who is being assaulted by ice for peacefully protesting.

They pepper spray him throw him on the ground and shoot him dead

Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.

they're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.

A nurse who took care of veterans, no less.

You know, those people Republicans pretend to care about until the topic of helping the homeless or mental health care/suicide prevention comes up

Most nazis and most concentration camp guards went on to freely and openly live their lives and died peacefully in their beds.
This is essentially what governments did in the late 1900s and early 2000s with respect to Nazis. Whether you were a lowly concentration camp guard or in Hitler's inner circle, if there was evidence you were a Nazi, it was straight to jail with your walker.

It worked.
Maybe instead of identifying specific ICE agents who do particularly heinous things, we could just penalize everyone who was on payroll at the agency starting by a certain date.

I’m sorry but as someone who has a book and a PhD on this exact thing, this is just straight up not true. The majority of Nazis discovered living abroad (particularly in the US, Australia, and UK) faced almost no legal consequences beyond the occasional loss of citizenship.

National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

I've talked to people on the ground about the strike here tomorrow, and the single thing everyone brings up is just how shockingly wide the support for the strike is. Businesses that no one would have expected to support it are doing so.
