Man on the Inside season two is an absolute delight and ends with one of the funniest jokes I've heard in a year.

The year is 2050, Bloomberg and NY Times op eds are full of doomerism about how when Millennials retire there will be no one left to convert Word documents to a PDF.
Milennials walking into a job interview in 2040:

Yeah so I know how to change a font in Microsoft Word and I can do it completely on my own offline

I love Damian Lewis, but how do you cast Jonathan Groff in The American Revolution and not have him play King George?

Kids are asleep, wife is out watching Wicked, so you know what time it is? That's right, Ken Burns' The American Revolution.

I would like to share something.

A year ago, Trump won and I was furious and scared so I sent a text to a few of local women I knew and asked them to join me at a meeting and invite like-minded women they knew. A few showed up, then a few more. We became a group called The Salon and we meet monthly

if you play Shine by Collective Soul loud enough you can hype the sun back into the sky.
whenever the sun sets at 4:45 pm i open a window, lean out and yell "WRONG" as loud as i can. that usually buys me another hour or two of sunlight

Made French onion soup for the first time tonight. very good but took sooooooo long. Next time I do it I'm going to cook the onions at a higher temp. I was worried about burning them and it took forever to caramelize.

Casting Timothy Olyphant as Space Raylen was perfect for this.
ironically what makes star wars stuff best is when it is 'something else, but also star wars'

e.g. Andor, a British political thriller but also Star Wars
the Mandalorian, an episode-of-the-week Western but also Star Wars (when it was good)

Has your King County ballot been counted? Visit the link below to confirm your signature has been verified, and if not, what you need to do to cure your ballot. info.kingcounty.gov/kcelections/...

Checking your ballot on the King County Elections site and making sure it wasn't rejected for a bad signature or other issue is important!
That said, there were more ballots in this drop -- 57,000 -- than initially forecast and therefore fewer on Monday -- 45,000. I genuinely think this could be decided by a hundred votes.

Understanding Seattle politics is making sense of Alexis Mercedes Rinck winning 80% of the vote and Bruce Harrell getting reelected.

I'm not shocked by this.

(Although Wilson is still within the margin for catching him as ballots shift left)

One year ago this morning I bought a Harris-Walz t-shirt in a naive moment of optimism. So basically this last year has been my fault.

Anyway, today we begin anew again to make our country the best, most hopeful version of itself. Go vote.

Got my first tattoo today. Was a super great experience and I'm looking forward to building on it with more, meaningful images from my life.

timers are also super effective, for me. post election I went from doom scrolling to budgeting 20 minutes per day on Bluesky. I've upped that to 45 minutes because of sports, but I rarely hit that anymore. If I do reach the limit, Android turns off the app for the rest of the day.
Random recommendation: I'm working on spending less time on my phone and setting it to grayscale has proven remarkably effective.

Our Helpline already sees nearly 100% of our clients take some kind of food or calorie assistance, and we're not even a food bank. We're expecting a very rough fall as food assistance programs increasingly tighten or fail, and people have to look further and further to meet basic needs.

Rank Washington, cowards.

The Big 12 has five ranked teams for the first time this season, LSU is out and there's a tie at No. 10.

See where top teams land.

I'm a firm believer in the idea that to achieve left goals, we need broad coalitions. Part of making broad coalitions is believing that no one politician is actually that important--specifically in the sense that we don't need to protect people from the consequences of their actions.
Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.

Over the course of the season, it's plausible that Dan Wilson cost the Mariners enough wins that they lost home field advantage in this series. He very certainly cost them runs/games in the post season.
This was mainly in response to some people talking about "how can you criticize Dan Wilson he led the Mariners to their best ever season" and gosh damn it no, and gosh damn it that's not an excuse for his decision-making.
