Very similar to the trans-kids panic, where the prestige media narrative is that it's far too easy but you talk to any trans person, expert or parent and it's obvious that it's way too hard.
Once again, no one making these claims seems to understand the enormous hurdles in the way of getting a kid the help they need - in this case - I dare anyone suggesting this to go through an IEP process.

I see many folks online obsessed with games being taken Very Seriously As An Artistic Medium, but only hype certain games easy digestible as Art. Other media (e.g. books, film) are full of messy, lowbrow, utterly bizarre things made for different niches that nonetheless find appreciators
was discussing this stuff with someone recently and i said that the 'games are art' conversations frustrate me cuz they're often about perceiving games as products worthy of accolades and praise, not seeing them as Art - the raw, messy, fallible end-result of human creativity.

how much people care about game review scores is funny. I think about this a lot because my sense for metacritic averages is my guessthegame weapon but it looks so silly that gamers take the difference between like, 78 and 84 so seriously even though I can also grasp why intuitively.
