Just looked this up: Palestine tried to join the European Broadcasting Union in 2012 but was rejected because the International Telecommunications Union has not recognised Palestine as a part of the European Broadcasting Area but does recognise Israel.

Israel also blew up the HQ of the PBC in 2002.
On reflection I think it would have been smarter to demand that Palestine be included in Eurovision rather than Israel be excluded. It would have shown that the real international boycott is not of Israel but of Palestine, whose right to exist is constantly denied.

Huge pick for the Greens here. If the rumours they're about to unveil Steve Bray, Ian Dunt and EU Supergirl are true the front bench just picks itself
Huge welcome to the party Femi!!! 👇🏼🎉
I joined the Green Party, because if Zack Polanski isn't our next Prime Minister...

I'll probably be dead within 10 years.

Are you a normal person who would like to buy or build a personal computer to do something actually useful or enjoyable? Haha fuck you.
Crucial is shutting down — because Micron wants to sell its RAM and SSDs to AI companies instead. It’s already getting hard to build an affordable PC, and the exit of the longstanding provider of consumer memory is going to make that even more challenging www.theverge.com/news/837594/...

Rewatching Gremlins and a handy reminder that just 30 short years ago it was perfectly fine to portray landlords as clearly evil people deserving of being torn apart by monsters and getting exploded out the window

Your yearly reminder that it’s almost time to prepare the prune Krampus
Forget cheese and pineapple hedgehog, every party needs an edible Krampus. Especially knowing how much children love prunes.

This was part of the point of requiring unpaid internships at the BBC btw- replacing a generation of workers whose qualification to get started was a love of the work with a generation of workers whose qualification was the ability to afford to live in London without an income
Journalists who came up through the ranks, knew their readers names, recognised their faces and understood their concerns 1st hand have historically been the backbone of the press. The right-wing corporatization of media has replaced it w an elite “ruling class” corps utterly out of touch w readers
I can’t claim to be neutral. But I am grateful I wasn’t hired at 19 before graduating college and then plummeted into journalism stardom. I was forced to learn my lessons in a small town newspaper where the audience was small but cared deeply when I made my mistakes — and forced me to confront them

star wars movies ranked by trains

1. solo (train heist)
2. ESB (pretty sure the special edition has trains on bespin?)
3. rogue one (filmed in canary wharf and i THINK there are trains on scarif)
4. AOTC (no train but there is a bus so they get partial credit)
5. all the others. do better lucasfilm
reminds me of this one tumblr post from eons ago that ranked all the marvel films based on whether they had trains or not. that's the only kind of ranking i care about now.
