I reskeet things I like. And, well, things I don’t much like but am glad I learned about. And things that I am infuriated by, and want everyone else to be mad about too. But I try to minimize the latter.

Despite industry leaders promising that agentic AI is the future, taking care of virtually all human tasks within the next few years

#CarnegieMellonUniversity researchers just released a paper showing that even the best–performing AI agents fail to complete real-world office tasks 70% of the time

Forcing AI on to employees is the norm for companies nowadays. Employees can't speak out against it directly, because doing so would negatively impact their performance review or perceived cultural fit, when layoffs in tech are also common.

In Cuba, Missouri, we can get a 14BR, 14BA lodge on the river for just $850K. It has a heckuva back story: Originally built as a brothel for local fur trappers, it later was frequented by famous St. Louis mobsters. +Bald eagles!

WE WON. I am *begging* you to take note of who did this. *Not* UCLA admin—they’re still scuttling around behind closed doors, attempting to appease—but FACULTY AND STAFF, led by AAUP.
BREAKING: In AAUP et al v. Trump (wall-to-wall union lawsuit challenging the administration’s unlawful use of TItle VI to reshape the University of California system), the faculty and staff of the UC system WON!!!

We were granted our preliminary injunction! @aaup.org

A new state-by-state evaluation of the projected energy and water use of "AI" data centers in the US. Looks… real bad. Like, "undoing tech sector climate gains" bad.

Strongly recommends immediately ensuring any & all new "AI" data centers to run on existing & expanded renewables grids. Which… yeah.

Asymptomatic transmission of H5N1 - apparently including a human-to-human case - seems troubling. Violet Blue’s reporting and links are worth following (when you have the bandwidth and stamina to think about this aspect of current affairs).
New: Asymptomatic human H5N1 cases confirmed, rare, but real, and documented with molecular + serologic testing. This is the kind of early signal you always track. I am about to take a COVID test. Sought this out to remind myself what to do if the test comes back positive. If you want to learn more about mast cells, COVID, and giving yourself the best chance of staying well, read up and down the🧵for citations and clear explanations.
The doses are the same. When you test positive for COVID, start taking:

-20 mg cetirizine or loratidine
-20 mg famotidine
-Every 12 hours
-Until you are completely recovered
