Fentanyl. Drug Overdoses, including Fentanyl, are not even in the top 20 causes of death in the USA. Cancer, Diabetes, Covid, Heart Disease all in the top 10, and all have had their research funding cut. They aren't murdering just Venezuelans. However they are killing us much slower.

Also they're just sick. They're killing people and whether you think it's justified or not (obviously it's not) that should mean something. Instead they're running around laughing like an axe murderer in some terrible horror movie. Completely broken people
There is absolutely no bottom. They will kill and murder and steal and break the law and laugh at every rule and institution until they are stopped. They think they are all-powerful and all conventional rules of morality and legality do not apply to them.

And it certainly isn't the fault of the most annoying people on Tumblr that the vast majority of conservatives who insisted that structural racism was fake/overblown but they'd stand up against real racism did no such thing. Trump is a powerful forcing function and the results are revealing.

Definitely something that should be brought in every earnings call of companies that gave to the Trump slush fund. Opens them up to having their federal contracts challenged and the next DOJ may go after companies for pay to play.
Jamie Dimon says JPM hasn't given to the ballroom because "anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful about how anything is perceived." Adds "And also how the next DOJ is going to deal with."

we have a Schrodinger's King. On the one hand, his pronouncements mean nothing because his word is meaningless. However, the fact his word is meaningless is forbidden for the press to use as a weapon against him
Right. This is normally a prelude to imminent war. But no one knows if the us president is serious or had a bad breakfast or is making an insane joke or had a stroke or whatever.
This seems like the kind of declaration by a U.S. president that should be mentioned *somewhere* on the front page of CNN or the NY Times, but the fact that it isn't (as of right now) tells us so much both about how this president is covered and the credibility of the U.S. government.

it's the runaway aesthetic of criticism - plenty of critique walks in with good points or observations the far enough back it's traced, but with enough time and reach it refracts into various social signaling expressions that coalesce and sort themselves into rigid, binary communicative meanings

We have learned that if the Amerikkkan people cannot have their burgers delivered piping hot for less than it costs in person they will collectively elect a guy who kills a million people in developing nations, so the creation of cheap burrito bots is one of the stronger moral obligations out there
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

As I keep saying, the liberal left should be less defensive about the culture war. You're goddamn right we started the war, it's a holy war against millennia of oppression and we damn well mean to finish the job
The only major faction which does not believe it is the far right, which understands itself to be in a cultural battle for hearts and minds which is only glancingly correlated with economic anything. It’s worked out wonderfully for them

“Bullying” is bad by definition. It’s not a value neutral tool to be deployed positively toward good ends. It’s so fucked up that people want so badly to reclaim this thing, and are so eager to do it that they want to brand things that aren’t bullying as bullying.
"Some people deserve to be bullied" is always wild to see because it's so deliberately childish as to make it difficult to imagine the person saying it has the moral capacity of an adult human being.
