i have a migraine and was trying to communicate, "we should buy a bread knife because the ceramic knife can't cut the dutch oven bread's crust," and just loudly said, "NEED. SAW...... TOOTH."

i mean. yes, that is the most crucial information in the sentence. but. could we not speak like a caveman.

a new minecraft or vintage story world sometimes helps me with the same kind of thing. there's something soothing about slowly building a base and seeing real tangible progress.

oh, no! you might be able to retrieve it if you contact youtube, but i'm not sure (i did some googling, and it seems to vary depending on the type of account and how it was deleted). i hope their support is able to get your stuff back for you!

i was furious about it, honestly.

if i had the money, i would build a large record collection and never go online again.

if not for that, i might have continued to listen to the song without realising it was bullshit.

i think the very humanness of the music and art we make is one of the most important/sacred things we do as a species. it is 100% correct that we put our music on the golden record when we sent it out.

i became very suspicious when i clicked on the artist and found out that this very polished sounding song was from someone with ~40 listeners. i dug around until i found the ai they used for it.

there was nothing about the music or the vocals that raised a red flag, but the writing...

so, i was recommended a song the other day and i enjoyed the music of it quite a bit but the lyrics were strange. it was about pining for someone and sadly looking at their social media posts (perfectly believable topic), but the phrasing felt extremely unnatural.

as i've scrolled through the comments for this thread, i've realised that the things about me that made people call me a freak are not unique to me. this was weirdly reassuring, so i recommend doing this to anyone else who's self-conscious about their preferences.

What foods do you love that you fully acknowledge make you a pervert for loving them?
lorath.bsky.social
yes!!! this is how i eat oatmeal, too, and i love the apple the best.

i also hate the tiny size of fruit snack packages! the texture is ideal for a gummy candy, as far as i'm concerned.

i've also done this occasionally and you are 100% correct about the weird mouthfeel

last month, our food pantry delivery was rotten and inedible. the month before that, there was hardly anything. i don't know about this month, because i was ill and couldn't stand in line for an hour, so i simply had to give up on the few food items we might have gotten.

Listen. If you didn't want to be seen as the Twitter escape pod, you shouldn't have deliberately fostered a community of people so united by their contempt for arbitrary authority and love of absolute free speech that they were willing to abandon a platform they'd been using for 15 years

I'm 48 now and regret not keeping a diary because I'm alarmed at how much of my life I've utterly forgotten. I mentioned this to a writing workshop comprised mainly of older people I taught last year, and one woman said, "Start now. START NOW. I'm 77 and I WISH had started keeping a diary at 50."

Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

the amount of people i know whose wheelchairs or other mobility aids have been damaged, fully destroyed, or lost by airlines is pretty significant. this is an extremely widespread and financially devastating problem.

Scientists Finally Reveal Biological Basis of Long COVID Brain Fog.

Patients with brain fog may have disrupted AMPA receptor (AMPAR) expression—key molecules for memory and learning. Imaging of Long COVID patients showed elevated AMPAR density tied to more severe cognitive impairment.
