Oh, you mean fall as in autumn, not as in "of civilization."

I feel like yes but it would probably have to be named something stupid like “landowner construction and profit freedom act”

My biggest issue with 15 minute frequency being the high standard is if you have to transfer (especially more than once) you either get lucky or it’s just over for you

(Less loudly) running the bus every 15 minutes also isn’t really going to cut it if we’re being honest

RUNNING THE BUS EVERY 30 MINUTES ISN’T GOING TO CUT IT IF YOU WANT TO GROW RIDERSHIP

The head of Vancouver’s transit agency can sum its ridership recovery in one word: Frequency.

“Running the bus every 30 minutes isn’t going to cut it if you want to grow ridership.“

Many Vancouver 🚌 run every 5min or less, and the SkyTrain runs every 3-4min, via @davidzipper.bsky.social

An adult driver angry at a child they hit with their car.

Our car culture summed up in one video.
robsonfletcher.com
Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

My favorite part is the smug, incredulous “do you have a law degree, Senator Schiff?” (He does)
atrupar.com
"This is supposed to be an oversight hearing" -- Schiff helpfully ticks through all of the incriminating questions -- and there are many of them -- that Bondi refused to answer during today's hearing

The Supreme Court's conservatives advanced the right's greater project of discrediting experts Tuesday, feigning that there is no medical consensus against conversion therapy.

Whether it's Republicans flagrantly abusing Articles One and Two of the Constitution or Democrats being bad at messaging, both parties are pushing America to the brink.

On @npr.org's Think podcast, I explained why ubiquitous robotaxis would create crushing gridlock:

"Human beings respond to an experience that gets better by doing more of it ... At scale, that means [you] have many, many more trips being taken by car on our roads and on our streets."

"We're going to make immigration just like great-grandpappy at Ellis Island" and then refusing to elaborate is probably a good strategy from a lot of angles
beijingpalmer.bsky.social
if you ask the average American to describe what they think a tougher immigration system should look like, they will describe something a degree of magnitude softer and more generous than the current reality.

The lesson here is that people are both better and dumber than they appear.

Policies that promote alternatives to car use, reduce sprawl, encourage more compact batteries, and require recycling would all reduce the scale of mining needed for carbon-free transportation.

Jesus spent most of his time healing the sick.

Today, we have politicians in Congress with “Christ-follower” in their Twitter bios — but they’re trying to kick the sick off their healthcare.

And they’re willing to shut down the government to do it.

I’m sure you could easily identify actual waste in the city budget if you wanted to, but it’s not in that 77k
gritsforbreakfast.bsky.social
Eleven paragraphs into the story, the Statesman grants that the $77k that Republicans are complaining city council spent on travel and food "pales in comparison" with the city's $6.3 billion budget and has no bearing IRL on the math of whether Austin needs a tax rate election. So disingenuous.
Austin wants taxpayers to tighten their belts. City Hall isn’t doing the same.
Austin City Council members gave themselves 55% more money for travel and 43% more for food in a budget that raises property taxes more than 20%. Voters will decide on the hike Nov. 4.
