Perfect posting from Tim Heidecker, 24 hours apart.
What an incredible experience, getting to perform at the Riyadh Comedy Festival. I left feeling grateful and humbled by his majesty's generosity. I'll never forget this memorial experience and all the fun we had. Hope to do it again soon. upon further reflection, there is a small part of me that feels I sent the wrong message, regarding the Riyahd Comedy Festival last night. While, I do think it's important for comedy to have the opportunity to thrive in all parts of the globe, there are some aspects of The Royal Highness, King Salmon and his leadership in the region that i don't agree with entirely, but it's a different culture when it comes to freedom and rights and I gotta respect that we are all different and have different values. My manager is now investigating the possibility of donating some of my fee to a charity for Vetrans of War.

Chuds: "A video game female must adhere to this very specific set of feminine characteristics. Any deviance means the developer is slipping trans characters into their games as part of the woke agenda. We must be vigilant, brothers!"

I still find it wild how anime fans, by and large, generally disowned Nobuhiro Watsuki and his work the moment he was outed as a pedophile. Meanwhile, Harry Potter fans keep finding new excuses to support the thing while the creator is actively working to exterminate trans people.

It cannot be made clearer.

If you continue to support the Harry Potter franchise in any way, you are directly funding the removal of trans people's human rights in the UK.

It might be easier to start listing the things that don’t cause autism

Besides linking Tylenol in pregnant women to autism, RFK Jr. now says circumcision is part of the reason why kids are autistic.

"Children who are circumcised early have double the rate of autism, and it's highly likely because they're given Tylenol. None of this is positive..."

The extra bendy elbow is almost more distracting than the lower half of her pose! Is this from a gravure idol book or something?

You do have to specify "Comics division" here since Disney has already dabbled and will do it again.

There's fucking yaoi art on a train by my house I'm fucking losing my mind, this rules so much
Anime styled graffiti art on a train car depicting a male demon looking seductively at another man while saying "That's a good boy", with the phrase "kiss yr homies goodnight" in the bottom left corner.
Artist seems to be "Akira BPD"

Y'all who keep lecturing protesters to "not give them an excuse" need to pause for a minute. Imagine yourself telling a DV victim, "Be sure not to mouth off or make any mistakes so he won't hit you. Don't give him an excuse! It's what he wants!" That's what you fools sound like.

Todd McFarlane talks about how 10 people may be more talent than him and he's the 11th guy, but when someone asks for someone to do a job he's the one who speaks up, so he gets the job.

ME: This is actually, super accurate advice. Go for it! Take a chance.

Even older.

On a related note, it can be argued that “camp” as concept, albeit ambiguously defined, originated in England’s elite secondary schools like Eton. So next time you hear a Brit say something nasty about drag, remind them their upper crust invented it in high school.

No, because it seems like you’ve done some basic research about that party. I was talking about people who say stuff like “all Japanese people think this,” not “this group that makes their stances public shares my views.” Because you have a reason to believe that share your views.
mattievvv.bsky.social
Huh?

What does that have to do with Orientalism?
mattievvv.bsky.social
This goes along with what I was saying earlier about Orientalism. If you treat a country and its people as a canvas onto which you can project your own fantasies… that isn’t respect, that isn’t just “liking.” That’s using a place as a medium for fantasy and that is exotification.

So many people say they are "interested" in Japan yet they actually know little about Japan. The Anime fantasy version of Japan is no more real than Disneyland.

If you can't give me a 30-minute extemporaneous talk on what the Edo period is, your Japan knowledge is lacking.

Or, as is becoming increasingly common, treating Asia like a canvas to project your own ideals on and insist the country is that way, a mirror of your own brain and not a real country with its own people who have their own varies opinions, is ALSO Orientalism.

I was so incredibly disappointed by how racist the literary translation community was when Han Kang won the Booker in 2016 and during Korea's early entry into COVID that I was amazed that I had further capacity to be disappointed in literary translators after Oct 7 during the genocide in Gaza
