I was wondering what Mamdani's first executive order would be, and I'm not disappointed by this.

He has wiped off the books EVERY Eric Adams executive order issued on or after September 26, 2024, the day Adams was indicted on federal bribery charges.

Under this framework, Jim Crow was ok, slavery was ok, the forced removal of indigenous people was ok, etc. There are certain things even when passed through liberal democratic means are illiberal and should never be allowed.
She helped pass a bill—which is 100% part of liberalism. Maybe you don’t like the bill. Maybe the bill will hurt some people and have bad outcomes. But that’s part of liberal democracy.

I disagree with this, and playing realpolitik games with these people is how you end up with President Marjorie Taylor Greene in 2028. I'm not kidding. Hillary Clinton's campaign helped promote Trump in 2016 thinking his candidacy would help her cause.
Politics is not fan culture—none of these people are your friends. There are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.

We can be grateful that MTG is against Trump without liking her or thinking of her as a long-term ally. The anti-Trump coalition must be huge.

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

🧵 Our mutual aid hub has been a HUGE draw for our immense volunteer base, many of whom have never wanted to be involved politics before now.

This model isn’t just about the immediate impacts: It’s about showing our values, building a community, and reaching voters — without selling our soul!
Turning campaigns into mutual aid hubs isn’t good for campaigns or mutual aid! Your campaign manager should be entirely too busy to schlep around 5600 tampons!

Cutting property taxes for Oregonians affected by wildfires. Canceling planned freeway tolls. Pausing local new taxes in the Portland area. We have to keep going to make life more affordable for Oregonians.

I’ve heard most journalists and politicians say that Trump hasn’t been directly accused of wrongdoing or implicated in the Epstein Files.

But, there are repeated instances of Trump being directly named as a perpetrator—by victims and by Epstein. It’s not circumstantial, it’s direct.

Portland Business Owners whining publicly about how they are overtaxed and don’t have enough access to government is extremely funny to me.

Aside from being demonstrably false, it’s basically telling everyone that if complaining via friendly media doesn’t work, you can’t do anything & we can ignore

Atlas is consistent, they're progressive leaning (with all the Anti-fascist stickers in some locations), and you can get a meal for about $8. It's hard to beat that in this economy
Had Atlas Pizza last night at an event. Nowhere near top tier Portland pizza but extremely good in its own right. It would be the top pizza place in most cities.

The density of amazing pizza places in Portland is incredible.

Historians will look back in awe.
Portland is a great place

Opening shelter beds isn’t the same as ending unsheltered homelessness. We’re seeing more people become homeless than we can house, and we run the risk of creating a bottleneck if we spend all our money on increasing a resource that is meant to be temporary.
Mayor Wilson pledged to end unsheltered homelessness in Portland by Dec. 1.

Today, people are still sleeping on Portland streets.

But Wilson did met one goal: He secured $$ to open his goal of 1,500 new beds. (Yet only 890 of those beds are currently open for use.)

Where we're at/what's next:
The state of Portland’s homelessness crisis, as mayor’s critical deadline passes
Mayor Wilson came into office with a pledge to end street sleeping by Dec. 1. Today, thousands still live outside.
