In response to the recent boiler explosion and chimney collapse at a Bronx public housing development, an association representing licensed plumbers is calling for an emergency inspection sweep of all New York City Housing Authority boilers to be conducted by its members.

I find this completely believable since "Improved" doesn't mean "sufficient".
and even if it's sufficient, the enormous subsidies to driving remain. My bus could come every 5 minutes and yet I'd still be paying for my bus pass while my colleagues who drive are given $200/mo parking passes free

I had to go to a store on Bald Hill Road yesterday, so I took the bus(es). A total of 6 buses and a 4+ hour excursion for a trip that would have taken about an hour total with a car. If you ever want to feel like you're the least important person in the world, wait for a bus on Bald Hill Road.

I still have a second gen kindle for bus reading. Just drag and drop PDFs on there of open access books and stuff
E-ink e-readers (maybe just Kobo idk) have gotta be the longest lasting pieces of tech. I can’t imagine ever needing to upgrade this thing. Just does exactly what I need it to do. Barely ever need to charge it. And mine is made out of recycled materials and can be repaired if it ever breaks.
