I Am A Man!
Pinned
Atlanta activists helped elect Dem president and two Senators, including first Black Senator in the Deep South since Reconstruction. One of those Senators backed Cop City. When the Dem mayor suppressed votes against it, the other Senator did nothing but write a letter that said nothing.
We screamed in Atlanta. We shouted, we protested, we signed the largest petition in city history. All to ask you not to give more money and infrastructure to a growing police state. And a Democratic run city laughed in our face. All to ignore the screams. And now we’ll all hear the screaming forever
Slogan is trash but also it's so funny for the "means testing" ass party to talk about a strong floor.
No value, no villain, no vision. Sounds like the tagline for the earnings call of a collapsing appliance retailer

I just hope everybody is open and honest about the fact that the first hugely consequential example of “Don’t give a fuck about the playoffs I’m trying to get paid” was a white 50 year old coach who was already a millionaire and not a player like all the old white dudes said it would be.

Man, the stories white people tell themselves. Y'all let the Confederates off the hook and they were back in power within a decade. That led to Black Codes, Jim Crow, KKK terrorism, citizen lynch mobs and mass incarceration. And now there is MAGA, whose leaders you also let off the hook.

We capitulated with that white ethno state and ended reconstruction early due to white power terrorism all so Jim Crow could be king for a century or more.

Trump is an outgrowth of that failure to meaningfully hold anyone accountable after hundreds of thousands died to do so.

The problem with fetishizing the rule of law is that people have to break the law to resist fascism, state violence, and oppression. This has always been true, and is very much the case RIGHT NOW.

"Cancel culture" is when (usually) white guys suffer any consequences at all, including criticism, for being abusive assholes.
louis CK was funny, sure, but never SO funny or SO culturally dominant as to reasonably expect to sell out every venue and sell every project for decades. so far, that’s what’s happening for him! what did ‘cancellation’ really do to his career? give him an audience he respects slightly less, maybe?

I think plenty of it speaks to the state of the media, but an obvious one is that Vox and Vanity Fair barely investigated her and that she managed to commit an unforgivable journalistic crime before getting a book deal and walking into another prestige job, while plenty of others are being laid off
you know, what if they aren't actually a commentary on journalism or the state of media. what if these people are just extremely weird

“These aren't the sort of people we're supposed to be arresting.”

White people.

The agents could have conserved most of a whole breath by saying “These are white folks.”

Masked mercenaries are only able to kidnap people off our streets at random today because Democrats refused to defund ICE when they had the chance.

The same goes for the epidemic of police violence.

The movement against ICE should revitalize anti-police organizing.

Abolishing ICE is only the beginning. Have you looked at your local cops?

..

According to mappingpoliceviolence.us, police kill at least three people per day; from a meta analysis published in NYT, we now know the number could be six or even more.

Donald Trump is now sharing memes of Democratic lawmakers behind prison bars.

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

one of the big lessons re conservatives and especially conservative christians is that they are more satisfied by being comparatively better off than others rather than being better off in absolute terms.

they’re perfectly happy to lose if you lose more.
There are a lot of conservstives screaming "THIS IS WHAT GOD WANTS" as their lives get measurably worse.

Please stop using language that suggests that people with criminal records are appropriate targets for this administration's violence. One in three adults has a criminal record. Stop playing sacrifice games with fascists. Stop surrendering entire categories of people in your own mind.

MAGA is fueled by the delusional belief that white guys are victims. Their leader is the most powerful victim in the world.
Ahh so that’s why I can’t hit a 94 MPH slider

Oftentimes they mean when a (white) person faces any consequence at all, including criticism, for wrongdoing.
A reminder that when most people talk about being "cancelled" or "ruined" or having their careers "destroyed", what they mean is having to face even the possibility of having to live like a normal working person
There's a vast continuum of employment between "West Coast editor for VANITY FAIR" and "unemployable pauper." There's nothing in the world preventing Olivia Nuzzi from taking a certification course and getting a job as a medical technician, or a locksmith, or an accountant.

The parent is at fault for being unhoused, the teen is at fault for wanting braces, and the victim is the rich and powerful white guy who's suffered no legal consequences.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9
