Mother: but it’s a real school right?

Xavier: oh my yes

Mother: so he won’t be trained to kill

Xavier: oh no he certainly will

Mother: but he won’t actually have to do it

Yep. The economic and social forces behind Trump will remain (not forever, though, because it is unsustainable.)

Newsom, like other rightwing Democrats, wants people to think the damage can be undone by a simple change of leadership, but the system he supports is broken, and a Trump was inevitable.
this was a little silly but at least believable after one term of trump, but is transparently flimsy after two.

donald trump is forever. the forces he represents are not just going to vanish like a dream. democrats need to contend with this fact to find a way out of the pit.

Culver City, California recorded zero murders in the most recent year of reporting data. But at this Department of Justice staff meeting, that number seems much higher.

Most pathetic shit we’ve ever seen @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social. You shouldn’t be in leadership
A simple ? from Wajahat Ali pushes Hakeem Jeffries into a crashout:

"Why not lead and abolish ICE? What you're telling us is you want our taxpayer dollars to pay for a lawless masked armed agency to continue terrorizing our cities."

Jeffries: "I don't understand anything you just said to me."

The underlying problem is that stopping the lawless authoritarianism is ultimately not a legal problem, & there are no actual legal solutions to it. It is a political problem, & the only solution is a political one requiring a majority of votes in the House & 67 votes in the Senate.
Our court system is largely working, with the exception of the most important court
Courts have ruled 4,400 times that ICE jailed people illegally. It hasn’t stopped.
