This is insane not just the explicit "go break the 4A" substance but how they knew how bad it was, acting in guilty paranoia to cover it up and suppress the written evidence.

This isn't how running a government agency works. This is what a criminal conspiracy looks like, because that's what it is.
🚨HOLY CRAP. An ICE whistleblower just revealed a secret memo authorizing ICE officers to break into homes without a judicial warrant, which DHS's own legal training materials say is unconstitutional!

ICE then hid the memo from the public, passing it along by word of mouth and private conversation.

Minnesota: "School officials say the [5-year-old] child was used as bait. They say [ICE] agents made little Liam knock on the door to ask to be let in in order to see if anyone else was home."

I can’t get past how shallow the non-talky gameplay feels over a long stretch (tho very fun in spurts), but to give CP2077 its flowers: it is a high water mark for first person storytelling in games, and the best example I can point to of a coherent artistic vision that is infeasible outside of AAA
cyberpunk 2077 is legit one of the best games of the decade and if you disagree you’re not a real gamer you’re just a reddit browser who doesn’t actually play video games

The problem with Geese imo is that all their tracks are neat jams that could be developed into good songs, but are always structurally flaccid. Best comparison I have is Presidents of the USA, whose first album occupies that same skittering roots grunge space, but with actual momentum to the writing
just not seeing the appeal of the band geese. they are derivative of better bands in several obvious ways, which in and of itself doesn't necessarily mean a band is bad. but it all comes together in something vaguely annoying.

I think we’ve got better and more culturally-varied street food than I could have imagined, cool jackets galore, and drugs that make us think we’re really fast and strong before they kill us.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Man, ain’t this the truth. A struggle I’ve always had as an ADHD-er is that the mechanical act of coding (esp. when you’re one to also sweat the details) is a minefield for executive dysfunction. Bucketing my work into isolated tasks of design and analysis has done wonders for my day-to-day output
And has essentially made me insanely less likely to procrastinate. Which has also turned me into a beast.

If your engineering culture is such that changes can be merged that no one is accountable for, then you have way bigger problems than whether PRs are being generated using LLMs
Actual Engineering Manager here.

Everyone talks about Vibe Coding, but I don't hear a lot about Vibe Debugging. My nightmare is that something burps out a mess of code and *no one is responsible for it*. If one of my people writes it... well they get to fix it. If no one writes it.......

they’re going to need to impose consequences that are felt in a personal way by the people in charge

ruining Trump’s big sports show, travel bans for the GOP (or, hell, all of congress), travel bans for rich Trump allies, sanctions on the Trump family

they feel invincible, change their minds
Honestly boycotting the World Cup would be the most effective and probably the least disruptive of all of the options available to Europe. I’m not sure how you can send teams and fans to contribute to a spectacle designed entirely to celebrate a guy trying to invade your territory.

authoritarian regimes are actually more sensitive to public opinion than democratic ones because they do not have a reliable mechanism to reset their legitimacy (ie actual elections)!
How is it that so many people think that authoritarianism is a way to bypass completely public opinion?

Especially on this site, where the population of Yanks self-selects for those who have spent the last decade aware-and-vocal about how fucked our country is for treating this man as normal
I think a big part of the disconnect here is that a lot of Yanks are surprised that the rest of the world is just now realizing things are as batshit as they are.
like i feel like Yanks do not get how utterly batshit the moment we are currently in is

Dem leadership really needs to be talking to our allies on this, not just to the American people, because this is a dire threat to our future, and we'll have less work to do reclaiming trust the harder we stand up right now.

Dems need to emphasize the damage *has already been done* via threats.
Yes.

It’s not targeted at our allies.

That correctly identities the problem.
He’s making a completely different point about how fucked up life is here for most people. It’s not targeted to our EU allies.
