I don't know who needs to hear this, but cops are not allowed to shoot people just because you didn't do what they said.

That is called murder when they do that.

Some cops are working hard to convince people otherwise.

Today is a great day to remember that a memo leaked from Pam Bondi that suggested charging people who film ICE with domestic terrorism.

That’s how badly they don’t want to be filmed.

Today is a perfect example of why.

Everyone who filmed Renee Good’s murder has ensured the truth will out.

I know people believe that the Democrats are in the minority and can't do anything. I would encourage you to read about how, in fact, minority parties can be disruptive. If they want to be. You don't even have to read. You can just see how the Republicans acted during the Obama years.

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

People are fucking assholes.

The reefer trucks for stacking bodies staged in the parking lot across from where I work.

1.2 million (U.S.) Americans died.

How many more have been disabled and now face further health complications from Covid?

Stupid fucking people.
there’s a thread on reddit right now called “was COVID really that bad?” and it is interesting to read people’s accounts five years out

there seems to be a collective trauma response where people (outside of healthcare workers) don’t remember how many people died

someone called it anticlimactic

We had just moved from one apartment to another, and went out for a celebratory dinner at a terrific Indian eatery.

We sat at a low table w/ cushions instead of chairs, ate and drank with gusto. Next morning discovered I had badly bruised my coccyx, making the next few weeks deeply uncomfortable.
What's the most ridiculous way you ever hurt yourself? I got out of the tub, skidded in water and tripped over the toilet. Ankle sprain.

It's only been five days since NYC has had a fucking shitass mayor and this goofy fuckstain is tired of it!
Did we see this? V funny.

"Born. Raised. NYC. Nothing's free. No bullsh*t. No fake grins. I'll own my mistakes, apologize when I screw up, and fight to make this city safe, affordable, and thriving... Mayor Rapaport is coming."
Michael Rapaport is running for New York mayor in 2029 to save city from 'evil' Zohran Mamdani
Michael Rapaport has announced his candidacy for mayor of New York City, citing his desire to oppose the 'evil' Zohran Mamdani, who he believes will 'supersede all our fears.'

Once again, I implore media outlets to stop saying these are CDC decisions.

These are changes being made unilaterally by RFK Jr. against the expert advice of CDC scientists.

I note that RFK Jr. no longer recommends flu vaccine for kids in the midst of a horrible influenza year.
CDC overhauls childhood vaccine schedule to resemble Denmark in unprecedented move
The new U.S. guidelines recommend all children get vaccines for 11 diseases, compared with the 18 previously on the schedule.

One of my drivers just asked me if I am "like The Dude"

and I said I don't know, it depends on which the dude he means.

And he said "well you are CHILL like the Dude, dude." And I said then thanks, man.

Their messaging is so fucking incoherent. Maduro was an illegitimate leader who lost in 2024, which is why we're replacing him with his VP instead of the person who won in 2024. We did this to stop fentanyl, which is why he's indicted for cocaine.

We're also occupying Venezuela via Zoom call.

So for months they have tried to blame the entire fentanyl crisis on Venezuela and the indictment only mentions cocaine, which they pardoned a different guy for weeks ago

nothing i’ve learned about executive orders in the past year has convinced me they’re anything other than high ranking politician make-believe
Mayor Mamdani has nullified every executive order issued by Eric Adams after he struck his corrupt bargain with Trump to secure dismissal of the indictment against him.

There are multiple national political commentators who earnestly predicted that Eric Adams would be a legitimate presidential candidate and a national figurehead of the Democratic party by now and those commentators still have careers somehow.

Do other countries have this weird notion that you’re not a “real” representative of the nation if you live in an urban center? Like do the French say Parisians aren’t really French? Are you considered not a real German if you live in Berlin? Or is this mainly a weird American thing?

For Americans, Dick Clark was the personification of all the preceding year’s misfortunes and sorrows.
Each year a Dick Clark was chosen to be feasted and feted for the final week of December, until being sealed inside a ball by temple attendants for the sacrifice on the night of the 31st.

Since the mid 90s, but *especially* since 9/11 every single time the media apparatus or the state has essentially said that it's open season on some subgroup of people living in USA, they get attacked. But people still doubt the existence or deny the function of stochastic terrorism in American life
This is the impact of networked incitement. And now every other “citizen journalist” wannabe Nick Shirley is on the ground in Washington, Ohio, and I assume elsewhere trying to break/make the next viral story. There’s potential for this to spin further out of control, hoping it doesn’t

My stance with the “never Trump” right remains: These are the people who fucking built Trump. Years of shit in service of Reagan, Bush, Romney, McCain paved the way for Trump. I don’t trust them. They’re rotten. I trust the people who opposed this shit all along.
