Last Sunday I helped my beautiful friend peacefully move on. It's estimated he spent over 15 years in this world, 12.5 of which I was lucky enough to be a part of. Thank you for everything Marker, I love you and I will miss you.

Brandon Nimmo has been with the Mets org since I was well under 30 years old. There are probably almost no players in baseball who have been with their teams as long. I know he's a Christian weirdo but still this trade can't help but hit the feels.

Riley Gaines? More like Riley Losses!
We partnered with @pablo.show to investigate Riley Gaines' rise to MAGA stardom. @msjpauly.bsky.social dug up docs that reveal the right-wing funders behind her ascent and spoke to puzzled teammates who wonder what happened to her.

Everyone thinks refs aren't worth rooting for in NFL football matches, thinking they should be invisible adjudicators of the great rule book, but then one gets hurt and has to leave the game. Well don't you feel silly now for your anti worker stance.

If I had a dime for every higher profile tight end named Dalton playing tonight, I'd have 20 cents. But it's weird when it happens twice.

It is not the end of history, but it also isn't the end of politics:

The key here is that SSDI recipients are a sympathetic group, and a picture was painted for the Commissioner: disabled people dying in the streets, but as they're doing it, they'll be telling everyone about *you*
The Trump Administration is abandoning plans for the biggest-ever cut to Social Security Disability Insurance, which would have hit older workers hardest.

The rule would have devastated up to 1.5 million workers' financial stability, retirement security & access to health care.

Social Security scraps plan to limit disability benefits after uproar
The policy would have fundamentally altered who qualifies for the two federal disability programs by eliminating or limiting a person’s age as a factor to consider.

This is great news.

This change would have joined the continuous stream of legal embarrassments of this administration: it would have likely violated Section 223(d) of the Social Security Act, which requires the consideration of age.

They're so mad people didn't want to let them kill grandma during the pandemic so now they want to deny her some nice new comfortable slippers.
Fox guest on how to save money during the holidays:

"Remember, adults don't need gifts. Focus on the people in your life who are aged 3 to 18. Grandma doesn't need slippers. If they don't live by you, don't get them a gift."

She's basically saying that holocaust education worked and she's mad about it, and also mad about widely available media not being as US centric as it once was. Totally things that would upset people on the right side of history.
I'm struck by this clip of former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz saying Holocaust education has backfired in part because people Palestinians as victims: "They think the lesson of the Holocaust is…you fight the big powerful people hurting the weak people."

this is a very important part of her legacy, her support for Palestine. one of the things i will always remember is that one of Dr. Refaat Alareer’s last liked posts on Twitter before it turned into x and removed like history is a photo of Alice.
The official obits are rolling in. I hear the NYT mentions nothing about Alice Palestine support ofc. When she won her MacArthur, Alice got death threats from Zionists. They ruined her joy on a HUGE accomplishment. She told me the MacArthur ppl took down her personal statement & when she complained

So the property owning class in NYC is stealing over a trillion dollars every year. Has history ever seen a bigger ongoing heist than this? Insufficient taxation is theft.
Beginning to understand why Mamdani's first move is to reform property taxes lmao what is going on

"Larry Summers will always get worse" is one of those irrefutable laws of nature. We always think he's rock bottom and yet every few years since like 1990 we learn a new reason to loathe him even more. I'm certain that in like 2028 we're gonna find out he farms puppies for food or something similar.

Funny to see Josh SSbarro whining about accomodations when I can't think of anyone who society has accommodated more.
A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

Amazing how Fetterman taught some people nothing. That Maine Senate seat could end up being one of the most influential and unaccountable positions on the planet going into the next decade. I feel like we can find something a little more low stakes for nazi tattoo guy.
In order to move men, we have to welcome folks who have done things in the past we abhor. We have to allow folks to redeem themselves.

It’s sometimes uncomfortable, but it’s the only way we can win moving forward.

"Teenage Wasteland" sounds kinda cheesy but "Baba O'Riley" is mysterious and confusing so it just works better.
"Teenage Wasteland" is maybe the best two-word phrase in rock history and frickin Pete Townshend had to name the song "Baba O'Riley"

Why does every ad use basically the same song, just a monotonous, unmelodic, cacophonous beat with repetitive lyrics. Is that just what pop music is these days?

Had a good masshole experience tonight in a Market Basket parking lot where I had to walk in the way of a car backing out of a spot cuz some dick was also in the way idling in his pickup. As I walked away I could hear the words "move ya fahking cah ya fahking (indecipherable)".
How Massachusetts am I? Just ate soft serve in the car in the Market Basket parking lot. It's 39 degrees out. You know you can hear the accent this information is conveyed in.
