Evangelical adults spent our childhoods preparing us for what happens *when* the government shoots & arrests Christians & now that it's actually happening (see Dr. Barber being arrested at the Capitol or Rev. Black being shot in the head by ICE), the same people are bloodthirsty for the violence. 😭

Exactly. I think a lot of people forget that all the legal protections for disabled kids in the US are relatively new. This would completely affect high needs autistic kids.
The Dept of Ed is supposed to legally enforced IDEA, 504 and ADA. That's now been gutted.

I think they've added a song? What I've heard from superfans is that Act 2 is famously messy & lackluster (I've not seen it myself). I think the hope is that they've both cleaned it up and expanded the story. Film also allows for bigger scope so probably longer song sequences too.

Reminds me of the show Little Mosque on the Prairie, an episode with a convert who comes to the mosque & causes havoc with his extreme rule adherence & arrogance. The punchline is, in the end, he's so sick of the community's "hypocrisy" that he joins the local church & replicates the same behavior.

It so reminds me of kids who got to college right out of their fundamentalist churches and didn't know how to interact with people with different belief systems without insulting everyone.
The fundamentalist mindset for lots of people is still there, even if they left religion behind.

“Conversion therapy” is a euphemism for child abuse, and every mainstream medical and mental health organization has rejected this practice for decades. There is no evidence that it does anything besides harm children. It is one of the few subjects where there is an overwhelming medical consensus.

Conversion therapy is universally opposed as harmful by major medical organizations, including (but not limited to) the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, American Medical Association(AMA), American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association (APA), and the American School Health Association.
