Sorry, what now? Personally I tend to think this government suggesting scrapping the right to appeal is potentially an even bigger issue with Lammy's reported proposals than the idiotic idea of getting rid of juries. This would be dangerous territory. #r4today

Magistrates would also see their sentencing powers widened to handle more serious cases, and the government is considering removing the automatic right to appeal against conviction.

Quite apart from the transphobic content of the reporting on the Sophia Brooks case, is the fact that most lead with the not-guilty verdict on harassment rather than the guilty verdict for a middle aged man angrily grabbing and smashing a teenager’s phone (all but Metro).
