Can't remember if I shared this here, but here's the first 2 minutes of Stranger & The Strange, my weird west animated short I'm working on in my off hours.

"Wake Up Dead Man" is very good.

Personally I like it better than Glass Onion, which was also very good.

I feel like when we talk about "authentic casting" people tend to be very literal, but Wicked is a great example of how you can use authentic casting in a very non-literal way to really add to a character.

The film casting a queer black woman to play Elphaba truly added so much to the character.

For all of YouTube's problems, they let us choose what kind of ads show up on our videos. That should be the standard.

In addition to issues like this, it's nice to know we can choose not to promote addictive gambling games and shit even if it means we make less money.
Worth a shot I guess 😓

If you could vote on this, I'd really appreciate it 👉👈

It's really funny to me that guys who idealize the Spartans and Vikings don't even engage with the reality of what they were, just the version they've seen in media.

Both cultures were far more multi-faceted than their popular depictions.

Hornet's face will also make use of the new Smirk version to make the eyes as flexible as possible.

So when I release the 4.5 update for SMIRK I'll also release the Hornet Rig with it!

I love the hell out of Spider-Man, but if it was announced that they were actively taking Saudi blood money to fund the next film I'd boycott it in a heartbeat.

Also very tonedeaf to be cool with accepting the murder of journalists to fund more movies featuring a superhero who is a journalist.
It is 2025 and comic book fascists still can’t let go of their embarrassing obsession with a failed cinematic universe. I don’t think they understand how hilarious they seem to normal people as a result.

Btw following this up to say that I say this just as much for myself as anyone else.

I find it easier to be impolite when I see it's hurting someone who isn't me, but it's still something I can and should be better at.
I think people should be less "nice" and more "kind."

Nice isn't moral, it's just politeness. And there's nothing inherently wrong with being polite, when I interact with people I make that my default.

But being kind means doing good things for others. And that's not always polite.

"Ugh everything gets sequels now"

The Oz books actually go in interesting directions people rarely explore, and I'm more than happy to see more takes on Ozma's story and the expanded world of Oz.
Stephen Schwartz says he and Winnie Holzman are developing a new ‘WICKED’ project.

It wouldn’t be a sequel to Glinda and Elphaba’s story but instead a new idea that “expands Oz in a new direction”

Wicked: For Good was pretty good. Not as good as Part 1, but since I'm familiar with the show I didn't expect it to be haha

I think the new songs were not bad, but pretty weak. But it's not such an issue that it drags anything down much.

I think people who accuse GRRM of not liking the A Song of Ice and Fire series anymore are entirely off-base.

I think he clearly loves this world and these characters. He loves it so much that he wants the series to be PERFECT.

But perfect is a moving target. It's a trap.

"My strategy is to makes as many concessions as possible, accepting invalid arguments against my personhood as valid. Which is smart, actually, because that WON'T simply reinforce their shitty beliefs and allow them to continue stripping away rights!"
Sarah McBride talks to the Advocate, blames trans advocates for absolutism, and going directly to Trans 301 when people are just at Trans 101. Doesn't specify whose rights we should throw under the bus but presumably unpopular things like child sports, blockers, etc. @rikiwilchins.bsky.social

if I may add: I put all my bullshit in brackets. whenever I'm stumped, or need to fact-check something, or the syntax is fucked, or I need to rewrite a passage. anything funky goes in brackets so when I'm ready to revise, I can easily search the doc for them and find all the bullshit.

I wish people wouldn't use the "this is an insult to life itself" quote to say Miyazaki is anti-AI. It's a lie, and you have plenty of real quotes you can use instead.

The quote comes from before this era of "AI," and it's essentially just Miyazaki being an asshole to some game devs.

Oh good, they left Chiropractors as professionals but not Nurses, NPs, PA’s or physical therapists

I think the Trump and Mamdani takeaway is just that Trump desperately wants to be considered charming and beloved.

He loves being near success of any kind, it makes him feel powerful and successful by proxy.

"Why are all the big indie animation projects for older teens and adults?"

Because that's what the Western animation market is underserving. This is also part of why anime is becoming more dominant.

It's resonating because the audience is there for it.
