Good point. But these guys desperately want to get to the point where they can say "Resistance is futile."

This is the Pritzker/Walz/Kelly lane.

It also makes Miller, Vought etc. more desperate. The clock is ticking and they know it. This means more awful things but also more mistakes on their part.

Yeah I'd go Borg.

For "One First," I wrote about DOJ's unprecedented attempt to secretly strong-arm a widely respected district judge in the Cities Church protest case—and why everyone, especially other federal judges, should read Chief Judge Schiltz's two letters in response:

Every federal judge (and justice) should read the two letters from Chief Judge Patrick Schiltz in the church protest case—and what they tell us about the Department of Justice's litigation behavior.

Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

As always, it's worth reading @jonathanbernstein.bsky.social . Not the main point of his piece at all, but I was struck by this paragraph at the very end about just how unpopular Republican presidents have consistently been since 2005. open.substack.com/pub/goodpoli...

After 17 years, I left the EPA yesterday. I'm sad to leave my "unicorn job", but this admin won't let me work on climate change.

I'll be posting at thesaraphreport.substack.com

First up: the Endangerment Finding. I helped write it. I defended it. Now I'm watching them tear it down.

In 1775 a lot of people were unhappy with the King but they weren’t necessarily ready to commit treason. That changed when the King’s troops started shooting their neighbors, stealing food, and raping women.

And on top of that, stopping immigration is a terrible problem for the future of our economy and society.
Immigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.

suggesting we try to defeat the federal government in armed conflict as opposed to nonviolent resistance is like suggesting trying to beat LeBron James at basketball instead of a game of chess
the extent to which this administration is out of control is really summed up by the fact that they immediately went with “this was an armed terrorist there to kill law enforcement” knowing that video from multiple angles completely disproving them was out there and would be seen by everyone

When the NRA finds out that a citizen was shot and killed by Federal troops merely because he was carrying a gun, there is going to be hell to pay. This is the exact scenario they have been warning us about! These are the jack-booted government troops from which we need unfettered liberty!

Ring the alarum-bell! Murder and treason!
What I can’t understand is how the norm that ex-presidents should avoid speaking out against their successors is somehow more powerful than the needs of the current moment.
Need unambiguous statements of support by everyone — from Walz and Klobuchar and Smith to Schumer and Jeffries— for state and city law enforcement standing up to lawless DHS.

We’ve covered lots of losing local teams on the back page of this paper.

But none with a record as bad as the Chicago DOJ during Operation Midway Blitz:

0 convictions

11 charges dropped

3 no-billed cases

1 jury acquittal

Got a ton of comments on my Starfleet Academy review calling it "woke" and when I explained that Star Trek has always been progressive people started fighting about how the franchise was never as in your face back in the day and yeah totally, it used to be SUPER subtle

And presumably you are not saying the D's need to run DSA folks. They just need to run people who are willing to fight (and abolish ICE).

If I had to bet, I'd go Stanton, Judge, and Schwarber.
