Proof it is possible to both agree and disagree with a post.

Turkey is substandard poultry. The flavor is strong enough to overpower a lot of spices but inferior to duck, chicken, pheasant, etc. Its best use is disrupting Massachusetts traffic.

But yes, if it is dry you are just shit at cooking.
Turkey is fucking delicious and if you don’t like turkey because think turkey is dry then you’re just bad at cooking turkey.

“Santa is secular”

Santa:
Saint Nick was based on Nicholas, bishop of Bari, an early Christian saint who gave gifts to people in secret, usually as a way to have done a good deed. The name Santa clause is a bastardization of Sinterklaas, a Germanic form of Saint Nick. It’s very Christian.

Final post on this I think. Here's a TL;DR of where I draw the line, given the global context. It's basically "The pope and cardinals get a pass on monogamy, US bishops and the US Conference of Bishops (lobbying arm) don't."
Papal statements on monogamy are dual messages because of that. And these are many of the same countries where LGBT rights are the least existent.

This is why I will, for example, criticize a US bishop making anti-poly statements, but I withhold judgment on a pope.

This seems to be a common question, so I've explained a bit in the thread. TLDR polygamy currently is a major issue in West/Central Africa, and the Pope has to care about that because these are hybrid Islamic/Folk/Christian countries. Much bigger concern than the US. Map and more context in thread.
May I ask why? That seems like a pretty glaring omission to make intentionally since that's the only kind of polyamory really worth talking about.

Nothing sets off bluesky more than suggesting there might be real political tradeoffs between human rights in different contexts.

See this? This is what will get you a block, because it has nothing to do with the points I was making, about which I've been explicit.

User redacted for the PSA, do not dogpile.

If you want to talk about how we could get to actually good legal frameworks, that's fine, but don't project.

Worth a quote post because this is the primary line of argument against my thread, and it should be! If most of the world's dominant religions took an, e.g. Haudenosaunee approach to women's role in society, my argument would make no sense.

But, and it's a big but...

I know everyone wants to meme about polycules and patriarchs, but let's take a couple minutes and think here.

1) Historically, monogamy is a significant step forward for women's rights.

2) The Salt Lake City Tribune may have different motives for caring about polygamy than my queer friends...

We need more work on this, although getting elite survey data can be a challenge...
much of the work on AI-generated misinformation focuses on regular users/communities, while ignoring how political and economic elites can seal themselves into a hermetic slop box -- a repeat of the same mistake we made with radicalization and conspiracism in the previous decade
oh this is absolutely what i think. i think they feed him fake polls and outright AI slop

I just love the meta message of “this guy has so many fucking medals he can’t even arrange them in the right order,” and the fact that to prove your case you have to keep showing this pic of all his cool medals and asking people to look extremely closely at it and study what they all are

a lot of falsehoods are getting repeated about b) by people who rightly believe a), and it doesn't help credibility.
a) The social harms of AI are vastly under-appreciated and go far beyond displacement of labor

b) The environmental harms of AI, though not trivial, are nevertheless small potatoes compared to many other industries like farming (and AI demand may even help accelerate electrical grid upgrades)
weird header for an article about the very real dangers of modern industrial agriculture
