Once more into the abyss
I nearly spit out my drink at this Taskmaster discussion. I hope @alexhorne.bsky.social was taking notes, no bad ideas in a brainstorm

For The Ringer, I wrote about how amazing it was that the brilliant Catherine O'Hara finally became a superstar in her 60s, and how sad it is that she was taken from us just when we had all finally begun to appreciate her:
Catherine O’Hara Could Do Anything
And she pretty much did everything. The only tragedy is that it feels like she was just beginning to get the recognition her decades-long career always deserved.

Dan And Dave Hit The Wildwood Boardwalk: A 2024 T-Shirt Report | Defector
There was no way we were going to win this seagull. It was the second time I’d put a buck into the claw machine, attempting to win a little stuffed seagull with a french fry in its mouth. My dad had a...

I know guys who kicked in doors in those places, as opposed to their lifer bosses, and I remember a common refrain was "No shit there's an unending insurgency that can wait us out, how mad would your hometown be if someone rolled in on them like this"
MAGA military geniuses are talking about Minnesota protestors like they are the Iraqi insurgency, the Taliban, and the Viet Cong all rolled into one.

Happy to lick a boot as long as it’s on someone else’s neck.
I'm really looking forward to hearing from the same people who have spent decades yelling about the Second Amendment that this shooting was somehow justified because the observer (allegedly) had a gun.

It turns out, it was never about *all* of our liberty.

I don’t know, I just think “now that you’re suffering, I don’t like you, and now that you’re already on the ground, I want to kick you” is the ugliest part of human nature and the work of a life has to include recognizing and trying to destroy that impulse within oneself and broadly in one’s world

I’ve heard this elsewhere as a thinly disguised shot at Gaza protesters (see e.g. Scott Galloway who cosplayed as Lindsey Graham on the Pivot podcast earlier this week, some very ugly shit).

More biscuit content in video format tbh
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

Pretty much all my best movie experiences growing up (except Pulp Fiction as a 16yo in the front row of the theater, I mean come ON) have been replaced with movies with my kids. Lego Movie, Thor: Ragnarok, Endgame, last couple of MI movies…could care less if they’re all genre.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.
It was hands-down one of the most memorable theater-going experiences I can remember, a collective 30-minute butt-clench/armrest-grab for the final climb. And we knew he lived! Wild.
