you don't need lower standards. you need less self-worth tangled up in your goals. the work gets easier when it's not about proving who you are.

One would think being behind NDAs was cool, but in the two decades of doing so, the most common experience I've had has been akin to looking up at a giant Asteroid plummeting to the ground, wondering why no one is doing anything about it, then remembering no one is allowed to know.

Masking at conventions makes so much sense I don't know why we don't all do it. The chances of getting get sick at a con are so high we have a cute little name for it: "con crud." That its easy to get COVID at cons should come as no surprise. Why would you not want to protect yourself and others?

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

wrote 20 pages on Faulkner's The Bear four hours before final papers were due on trucker pills and coffee and cigarettes and got an A, fuck you.
