If the US holds Venezuela, we will seize 17% of oil -- yesterday's technology. If China uses this precedent to take Taiwan, it will own 60% of semiconductors -- tomorrow's technology. See what happens when you elect evil & stupid at the same time?

guys i'm not gonna lie but it will be so absurdly funny if the outcome of this is that the exact same regime, now lacking only the guy in charge, now has american support against the opposition
There is…so much going on here, but an all time “raises questions” is what stands out the most.

Pete Buttigieg said this back in March ⬇️

Pete's analysis explains a lot about Trump's actions & statements toward Venezuela, Greenland, Canada, Mexico, and other jurisdictions that are physically close to the US.

Trump's foreign policy is not motivated by justice or democracy.

Secretaries Rubio and Hegseth looked every Senator in the eye a few weeks ago and said this wasn’t about regime change. I didn’t trust them then and we see now that they blatantly lied to Congress.

Excuse me, but that's not an accurate characterization of what he says. I'm no Schumer fan, but he's pointing right at Hair Furor's motivation: he desperately needs a war-sized distraction right now. What is Andy Craig's explanation for kidnapping Maduro?
lol Schumer's response is literally to say this is a distraction from grocery prices. Beyond parody man.

It doesn’t matter whether or not it will succeed in the House. They should be doing it. They should do it and they should keep doing it over and over. It’s right and necessary to clearly say “this is what should be happening and if this was a functioning rational country it would be”
The president unilaterally decided to attack a sovereign nation and kidnap its leader, and now he says he's just going to run that county himself for a while too.

Call your representatives now and demand they impeach him.

This is a good statement -- bc it gets you where you need to be wrt the OTHER constitutional issues (not least bc THIS SCOTUS would not rule against Trump but Gorsuch IS on recent record that Congress can't hand off its war-declaring power to POTUS.
Statement from Cato VP Clark Neily: Courts probably won't rule against the rendition. Yet Trump has chosen to bypass the constitutional provisions designed to cabin the president's powers in using force against other countries. And an indictment does not supply him with those powers.

Allow me to connect some dots for you:

Too much of the world currently relies for its basic functions on resources which must be continuously extracted. You burn that oil one time and oops, now you need more.

Geopolitical horrors are, in fact, one of the reasons we need to move to renewables ASAP.

It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.
