the 60 Minutes segment on CECOT that was cancelled last minute had apparently already been sent to Global-TV which aired it in Canada. I suppose that risk in very short notice changes didn't occur to bari weiss as someone who knows nothing about her job

December 22 #ArtAdventCalendar is one of my favourites. An old rail trestle bridge in SE Saskatchewan, discovered during a wandering-the-roads drive with my dad. That line would've gone south into the US.

The wooden bridge deck is obviously old, and you can see a row of spikes near the right edge that do not appear to be holding anything down. Off the right hand side of the bridge, mid-way up, is a small platform with rails. If you were on the bridge and needed to get out of the way of an oncoming train, this was your platform.

It’s solstice December 21 #ArtAdventCalendar and that calls for lots of lights. Here’s a series of #aurora to go with the single shot from a few days ago. North, east, west-south-west and north again.

Looking north, framed above horizon. The sky is multiple, brilliant shades of green. Along the bottom right, clouds show as black. Along the left, black sky at the bottom then the line where the aurora starts has areas of red and yellow at the very base, reaching up into the greens fairly quickly. Fades out towards the top of the photo. This really stayed quite a solid and bright curtain of greens, flickering and moving back and forth but not moving up and down much. Looking east. At the bottom of the photo, tree tops are in silhouette. Above the treetops, the entire frame is filled with pink-red, very light green, and silvery-white aurora. You can see some stars in the exposure. These are not as bright as the greens, but they flickered and flowed much higher into the sky, so much so that there were complete overhead views. The bright greens were much more vertical curtains, these were like waterfalls across the top of the sky. Looking west-south-west. There is a large tree silhouetted foreground, with a band of dark (yard). Horizon line shows a few bright yard lights in the distance (10 miles probably? More?). The sky shows more of the pink-red-silver across the entire frame. These lights are much more ethereal and are moving much more that the bright greens. These really do dance and form patterns and waves. Looking north again as everything came together in this direction; the reds & silvers higher up moving down to meet the bright green curtains. Tall trees in silhouette at bottom left and right of the picture.

I watched a manager try to use Copilot to do a holiday raffle this week live. He gave it a list 100ish members and 50 prizes and said no repeats, and it proceeded to award the same 7 people all prizes.

The number of waffling, stonewalling prompts it took to get that done would get a human fired.

Looks very weird. Pay it no mind. Also the reflections were fun to figure out and do. I liked the medium!

There’s nothing more infuriating than treating citizens like wallets. Yes, we pay taxes; that’s not all we do. You want people to move here and stay here, your prime focus can’t be constantly reducing taxes below what’s needed - it gets us here. Also, cut RPS along with everything else.

A very large - but surprisingly chill - moose. Just hanging out in a bright green garden (full disclosure, that’s mostly weeds) snacking on the weeping birch. Our neighbours named her Molly, and she hung out at their yard and ours, by herself, for a couple of years.
