It's amazing that neither Schumer nor any of the eight turncoats can summon this rhetorical energy.
Do I trust them? No. That’s why I voted no. But they are in a terrible position, and we can use the next few weeks to turn the pressure up even further.

Free transit idea for @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social that’s easier, cheaper to implement, has fewer weird what-ifs, and doesn’t involve the state:

Buy management control of Citibike, expand it citywide (finally), and make that fare-free for residents.

FWIW: I think there is a substantial piece of the Mamdani vote in November and that was:
1) Looking to turn the page on Cuomo
2) Looking for someone talking about the city’s cost of living squeeze…

…Without agreeing with the Mamdani proposals to address it. Will be interesting to watch.
Zohran’s win was, in part, an outcome of the growing PMC class consciousness, and I’m happy someone at the Times is noticing

ryan is right. people HATE hearing this. but it is just a matter of simple incentives. if you want a more representative legislature — and if you want a legislature more resistant to corruption — then you need to jack up the salaries. serving as mayor of NYC should net you a cool 500K *at least*
people hate hearing this but it's 100% true, creating a huge pay gap between political leaders, their staffs, and other elites is a recipe for corruption. of course the flip side of that is taxes on the rich should be jacked way the hell up
The Mayor of New York only makes $260k. I bet there are police that make more than that in NY with overtime.

We need to pay elected leaders more money and stop pretending it's some sort of calling. They're managing hundreds of billions of dollars in investments and millions of people's lives.

One thing the mayor-elect could do between now and January 1 is to call on Kathy Hochul to veto the bill on her desk that would ban one-person train operations in the NYC subway. Mamdani was absent the day of the vote, and banning OPTO is incompatible with lower cost (or free) transit.

It looks like New Yorkers just passed all three pro-housing charter amendments on the ballot. The mandate is clear: it's time to build more housing.

The last month of the anti-Mamdani campaign was an absolutely shameful undertaking, an attempt to rip the city and Democratic coalition apart and I'm very happy to see it failed.

The new spam/unknown filtering in iOS 26 works so poorly - why would I want these calls to send me notifications? Why do they only filter out of the call list after I open the app and wait a few seconds? Why do they badge the app icon? Why can’t I block the number directly from a voicemail?

Last day of Early Voting, polls open until 5! I voted Yes on all ballot props, here’s why:
If you haven’t already—make a plan to vote, vote Zohran Mamdani for mayor, and remember to flip your ballot to vote on the six ballot proposals!

Off-cycle local elections in NYC are a gift to party machine politics, full stop. Yes on 6!
Unlike Greg, I voted yes on #6. Anything to bolster turnout and reduce election fatigue in NYC would be good for local democracy. Still, this is a very good thread on all of the ballot proposals.
Okay, I did a big thread on the ballot proposals in the NYC election. Here's the final outcome, but please feel free to check out the thread for all the links and the various pros/cons!

Finally decided to update to iOS 26 and man is Liquid Glass exactly what I feared it would be and exactly the opposite of what they claim it is. The effects and animations are constantly distracting from the content and tasks at hand.
