Happy New Year. I've had this account for a while but keep forgetting to use it. I'm a sapphic trans woman living in Lancashire, UK. I'm an app developer and like sci-fi/fantasy, especially Doctor Who. I like to do abstract painting in my spare time.

Photo is from Blackpool Pride 2024.

Wouldn't be illegal for someone to call the venue and give descriptions of "men infiltrating the venue dressed as women", but describe cis attendees, and just let them lose their minds working out which of them is a man?

Mischievous, sure. But illegal? Nah.

objectively there are hundreds of different diagnosis of physical conditions where the leading causing factor is stress. from heart problems to skin conditions to IBS.

And that's before we even get to the mental health side of things.

each and everyone of these GPs should eat a dick.
But, life being stressful can make you ill. This is well known. You can argue about diagnostic criteria if you must, but you can't over diagnose anything. Either the patient in front of you meets the criteria for a diagnosis or not. There's not a guaranteed 50,000 new cases of depression a year!

This quote from the judge sums up transphobia. It's about "moral propriety". No scientific argument will ever satisfy a bigot. You could transition at a DNA or molecular level and they'd still be coming up with reasons they have an ick about trans people and why we should be excluded from society.
Judge Sutherland also said the statutory requirement to provide separate male and female toilets was concerned with “moral propriety”, which “does not necessarily depend upon a biological interpretation”, adding that “moral propriety is a social construct and standards of decency change over time.”

The judge said that applying a biological-sex-only rule to control access to toilets would be “unworkable”, noting that “the biological sex of another toilet user is likely to be unknown and may be unknowable”

Just a reminder: had the Women's Institute and Girlguiding decided to stand with women and threaten to close instead of embrace segregation, right now the anti-trans hystericals would be on the back foot as angry members came to their defence. Instead, they've chosen to support transphobia.

Of course there’s a fucking point to getting angry at organisations dropping trans people out of fear. It should be shameful and they should be confronted with our feelings of anger and betrayal. To pretend we do this instead of targeting the court government sex matters etc is disingenuous bullshit

The answer, in terms of 'what the Average Joe do to combat the attempts to oust trans people from society' is to just start new clubs that are renamed the inclusive womens institute, and let their crusty old clubs die with their members.

we are straight up where we are now because in 2014 those with the power to fight and push back didn't every year for the last decade, so bigots gained huge footholds.

Trans people have had to diy our own healthcare, journalism, media, sports and everything in between lmao.
It's cowardice. It's straight up fucking cowardice because their fucking jobs and org are more important than our lives. Our people are already fucking dying and it's gonna get worse. No fucking tolerance for anyone prepared to fucking accept that as a reasonable cost of doing business.

it's bcos none of these groups to afford the cost of the legal threats.

@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social could fix this very, very, easily but she won't.

remember that. remember that labour could have fixed this legal loophole that bigots are taking advantage of to bully organisations in to submission.

You have the choice to sacrifice trans people. Perhaps it will save you.

But you don't get to ask trans people to accept the role as sacrifice. You cannot expect understanding, acceptance, forgiveness, or respect.

You made your choice.

The truth is that there are many good people in good institutions regretfully making the choice to sacrifice trans people because they fear for their own survival and their institution's survival...

...and it is incumbent on us to show them that their choice is not without consequence.
