reposting with alt text because this feels incredibly significant. the right-wing disinfo machine means a lot of the people grieving Charlie Kirk never heard any of the things he said that would have tarnished his brand as Guy Who Just Wants to Have Dialogue Across the Aisle

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. I’m sorry we have to live through this.

Press release and big announcement about the new concentration camp in Florida.

My friend, out of curiosity, looked up if there were a press release upon the opening of Dachau. Turns out there was.

I'm not going to name the podcast but it's really getting exhausted listening to people say Trump voters didn't vote for racism it's about economic issues when Black people didn't vote for Trump

Maybe federal judges will realize it's time to stop dicking around and time to start throwing people in jail themselves.

sorry if this makes james carville mad but obviously the first thing democrats should promise to do if they ever win back power is impeach trump and prosecute everyone involved in this shit
NEW: A federal judge raised alarm Friday that the Trump administration appeared to have deported a 2-year-old U.S. citizen to Honduras with "no meaningful process" — even as her father was fighting to keep her in the country.

Dear senators who think you can’t do anything,

Today, Senator Van Hollen - through diplomatic pressure - got a meeting with Abrego Garcia in El Salvador. So that thing you’re thinking about doing? DO IT.

I was just thinking about how for the GOP, a regulation requiring employers to cover contraception in their employee health care plans was a crisis for rights and freedom requiring massive litigation, but holding innocent men in a Salvadoran concentration camp during Holy Week is The MAGA Way.

Also this is how it starts: academics banding together, which leads to universities banding together, which leads to companies banding together, which leads to states banding together, which leads to nations banding together - all so Trump can’t extort us one by one
We're now tracking Mutual Academic Defense Compact (MADC) resolutions at @wearehighered.bsky.social!

old great aunt prove her citizenship to vote in rural georgia, this definitely isn’t reminiscent of anything in the american past
🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

What's most significant about today's day of action is the sheer number of locations where protests took place -- more than 1000 towns and cities, all over the country.

That's only happened one or two times before *in all of American history.*
HOLY SHIT. I grew up two stoplights over from Flower Mound. I never in my life would’ve expected to see a protest like this there. WOW.

I’ve been blowing up Tillis and Budd, especially Tillis. He’s up for reelection next year and our former (popular & Dem) governor will most likely be running against him. They’re listening whether they want to admit it or not.
kinda sick of people saying they won't call their congresspeople or senators because they're republicans.

maybe calling our republican senators is helping...

America taking over Greenland is a foolish idea. America destroying its relationship with Canada is utter idiocy. America applying tariffs and engaging in trade wars with neighbors is economic nonsense. A lunatic is holding America hostage and his enablers are making fools of themselves.
