I didn't know that I would be so enamored with talking mammoths but Mars House by Natasha Pulley really caught my heart (for a lot of reasons, but especially the mammoths)

The book is good, folks. Absolutely the most human-centered and even intermittently uplifting way of writing about a legitimate cultural scourge imaginable. Absolutely as fun to read as it is infuriating. You should get it.
I'm very excited that BAD COMPANY entered its third printing this week! You'd better buy it now before you're relegated to a copy from the fourth printing...

If you're mad about #joanns and want to know more, check out Bad Company by Megan Greenwell. It's a good look at private equity and how it affects the everyday person, with some hope for how communities can band together and reclaim what private equity ruined.

This book sounds fascinating. The Bear meets Attack on Titan? A food based epic fantasy? Like I gotta read it right?
Seven Recipes for Revolution by @ryanprose.bsky.social is out now and looks stunning!

"The Bear meets Attack on Titan", as a lowly butcher uses his culinary skills to dramatic effect in a world where magic is a food-based system run by the elite.

Revolution, amazing action & very original!

Really had a blast with this one. A rich world, stunning characters, and a near impossible treasure hunt. I love when technology and magic mix. Plus all these characters have rich backstories. Kept me hooked all the way through and was so fun to read. #sffbooks

Everyone, no matter where they live, what they look like, or who they love, deserves to see themselves and their experiences in books—in bookshops, schools, & libraries.

Reading helps us understand ourselves, our world, & one another.

I love reading in the afternoons at Thistle & Nightshade because I can curl up & sunbathe. Today's book is American War by Omar El Akkad. He flips current world power dynamics on their head and melds them with already existing divisions in the US to create the Second American Civil War. #americanwar

"From Here We Build: Queer Youth Write From Their Lives". The poems are diverse and speak to a lot of queer experiences. A great read for anyone looking to listen to young queer voices, find common experiences, or experience a variety of poetic forms.
