There's something almost touching about orchestrating and executing a multi-decade plan to attain functionally limitless power and then getting all in your feelings that nobody likes you.

Some of the best (I think) material in Five Came Back is there because a librarian saw what I was working on over 3 days and asked me if I'd like to take a look at a box of old George Stevens papers that had not been catalogued yet. So no, for a ton of reasons, AI cannot "do the research for you."

I’ve only read it once, but ONE NATION UNDER GOD is essential context for this moment. Check it out.
A very nice woman in her 80s emailed last night just to say that she had read ONE NATION UNDER GOD for a second time and enjoyed it even more than the first time. I can't tell you how much a note like that can do for an author, especially with all of this going on.

Drop your favorites a line, folks

I want to think of Rob Reiner screaming “$26,000 WORTH OF SIDES?” in WOLF OF WALL STREET but it’s not easy right now.

Beau Is Afraid
The King of Comedy
M*A*S*H
Short Cuts
One Battle After Another
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
The Wolf of Wall Street
was recently asked my favorite comedies, which is a good question, and I'm not sure the answer. I think Big Lebowski is probably number 1, but after that, idk? Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Best in Show were the other two that came to mind. So let's hear your faves

Cinnamon Apple Pie Crunch has an uncanny valley effect of tasting exactly like McD's apple pies that I'm not sure how I feel about. Like man was not meant to know the sensation of eating a bowl of pies.

I have a joke about Alexander and it’s pretty great.
I have a joke about Oedipus, but it’s a bit complex
I have a joke about Anne Boleyn, but it's execution dependent.

Midway through KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR and if nothing else, it's damn encouraging how many people rolled out on a Sunday evening to sit in a movie theater for five damn hours. Cinema is not dead, if you want it.

This is one of those things that I think is quietly important – when these people are talking shit about cities, Portland or Minneapolis or New York or Charlotte or wherever, you have to loudly say, “no, fuck you, you’re lying, that town and its people whip ass and you’re the asshole”

I have personally benefited from disability accommodations, also gaming of them is 100% real, and I don’t see the point in denying it.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

Over the Top 2: Meet Me Halfway

Stallone lives in a nursing home, and Mike hasn’t visited for years. Maybe if Sly can win the senior center karaoke contest, their relationship can be saved?
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

The "liver, fava beans and a nice chianti" line in Silence Of The Lambs is a little joke for psychiatrists in the audience - those foods cannot be consumed with the meds (monoamine oxidase inhibitors) that Lecter is supposed to be taking.
