I'm sharing a lot of sad stuff - here's a photo of my cat as apology. Here she has stolen my office chair and is about to whine when I try and move her. This scene happens on a daily basis. Despite the fact I have LOTS of places for her to sleep in the office, and the rest of the house.

i was especially struck by these paragraphs, which rang very true to me. libs who grew up around conservatives aren't embarrassed to be liberals--or confused about what conservatives want. there's a certain kind of elite media man, on the other hand--

CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

It’s the kind of diagnosis that a toddler would land on.

The issue is not that we don't talk to each other. It's that some people think that "talking" means getting to debate your existence, and that's abusive and controlling.

If these people really believe that LLMs have sentience, consciousness, emotions, etc., how do they address the necessary conclusion that the people who use them are slavers?
Anthropic C-suite folks are ridiculous, but unfortunately also empowers to impose things on others based on their batshit views.

Gamers: My dude, welcome to the club.
Korean Devs: I can't believe you idiots still let people buy plane tickets. They should be buying a chance to be given a plane ticket to an unknown destination.
Delta: Wait, we can do that?
Sean Duffy: lol, sure!
Zohran: "I mean, think about when you fly.  We have made it such a difficult experience to go through TSA that there's now a financial incentive to sign up for a separate program that can move you through it quicker. We have monetized the dysfunction."

For all Universal HC/Single Payer/M4A advocates.

What do the biggest, expensive hospital chains do. Do they opt out and only serve the rich ?

Who in the USA gov runs the program?

R U ok with having to see a primary care doc before you can see a specialist ?

Caffeine is produced by tea plants as an insecticide. Many Japanese green teas are partially covered or even fully shaded in order to make the tea leaves greener and more tender.

The more tender plants ramp up caffeine production by a BOATLOAD.

People in this thread: ah you see tea has less caffeine because tea is so dilute

Me: not if you drink 6g per 100 ml

People in this thread: what

Me: what
So I can’t read this for Reasons, but the first picture shows someone with matcha and guuuuys matcha is just chock full of caffeine. It’s more caffeinated than coffee.
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

And just a reminder: this is everyone’s health care who goes up, not just the people with subsidies. We all lose when our payer mix becomes sicker, which is what they does.
The GOP just blocked extending the ACA subsidies - again.

Making people’s healthcare skyrocket while you control the White House and both chambers of Congress seems like a great move for the midterms.

With the Time cover parodying a 1932 photograph, I feel it's important to pass along info on the original. Because I feel sadly sure that a lot of folk now just don't have these older photos in their experience of history classes.

Fucking incredible dystopian shit, comparing super rich people risking millions if not billions of lives just to make more money to people that risked their life actually building incredible things that would then make millions of dollars for super rich people.

I can not explain how much snickering over this whole thread I have been doing, omg can you imagine the horror of being trapped in a car with Aquinas (or any of the philosophers really) who keeps citing his own works at you. Worst road trip or one of the levels of hell? Who can say.

In other news, the whole thing about Calibri v. TNR isn't about a font face, it's about the fact that Calibri is easier for people with some disabilities to read.

They think any accommodation, however painless, should stop.
