Honestly crazy how no man has ever had any problem that oppressing women couldn’t solve.

it is almost as if accommodating and conceding to far right ideas legitimizes them and signals to voters that the far right is a legitimate choice for governance
The Danish Social Democrats are currently on course for their worst election result since at least the Second World War, despite their brand of far-right accommodationism being touted as a blueprint for other centre-left parties.

You guys realize that taxing people to pay for services isn't socialism, right? This is just how governments work.

the president has destroyed the east wing of the white house without so much as a word of input from anyone else to build a royal ballroom paid for with bribes
NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

It is frankly strange to be this obsessed with college if you no longer attend one and do not work in education. More people in legacy media need to be told that.
And who is the author of this op-ed? The billionaire CEO of an asset management firm who helped author the compact.

The idea that President can negotiate/dictate bilateral “deals” by using the full force of the federal government to punish and humiliate his perceived enemies goes against the whole idea of the rule of law. That should be the story, rather than normalizing this authoritarian behavior.

There is the actual Democratic Party, which for better or worse is a mostly ordinary liberal political party and then there is the “Democratic Party,” a synecdoche for everything that annoys you online.

There was an old tweet that stuck with me: "If you can easily walk to the coffee shop but your barista has a one hour commute, you don't live in a walkable 15 minute city; you live in a theme park"
as someone who lives nextdoor to both supportive housing and public housing, i need people to understand that the best locations for both are going to be the central neighborhoods in a metropolitan area, where there is easy and reliable access to services and jobs.

Partly as a result of backlash, partly as a response to real failures of movement leaders, terms like “second wave” and “liberal feminism” have become synecdoches for feminism’s various inadequacies and betrayals. But we all live in the world that the second wave liberal feminists made.

This is the type of thing that poorly run private companies are doing on a smaller scale constantly and a great example of why “we gotta run government like a business” is a grade-A dumb guy’s idea of what a smart guy thinks
NYT: One estimate finds that DOGE’s “firings, re-hirings, lost productivity and paid leave of thousands of workers” will actually COST taxpayers “upward of $135 billion this fiscal year.”

Vaccinating is “a personal choice” but your child getting lead poisoning from your municipal water supply is mandatory
3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie).

Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development
CDC denies help for lead poisoning in Milwaukee schools due to layoffs
The CDC rejected a request for help "due to the complete loss" of their lead poisoning experts.

All but three House Republicans just voted for Trump's tariffs. The procedural measure, which preemptively surrenders congressional power to stop Trump's tariffs, passed with all Democrats voting no. This was the vote count:

Yes. If these people gave a shit about "bringing good jobs back to America," they would be fighting to improve the quality of the jobs we already have. There's nothing inherent to the work of a taxi driver or waitress that has to be less secure than a 1950s factory worker.

The far right's stance on COVID was always incoherent and contradictory. It was a devastating bioweapon, but also just a cold. It was a plot to cull the herd, but also infect yourself on purpose. Donald Trump moved mountains to create the vaccine, which you should avoid because it will kill you.
The GOP COVID Committee report is wild. The virus is a Chinese bioweapon designed by Fauci ... and it was so mild that the US should have taken zero precautions ... and Democratic governors didn't take enough precautions ... and we should have let everyone get it.
