This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Managed to finish Shirley Jackson's We Have Always Lived in the Castle, finishing off my goal of reading 12 books in 2025 on the very last day of the year. I was interested in reading some gothic fiction, and this was a pretty compelling and quick read, with a pretty unnerving PoV. #booksky 💙📚

Loved Nettle & Bone, a great take on a "dark fairy tale," and very wittily written. It is the first book I have read by T. Kingfisher / Ursula Vernon, but if this is the kind of writing and story I can expect from her, it won't be the last. #booksky 💙📚

I will not give its text a look
I will not share your AI art
I will not share even a part
I will not play your AI game
I will not play it, feel some shame!
Use your soul and heart and head
And make us things to love, instead

(With apologies to Dr. Seuss).

As Hannah Arendt put it: "The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists." Undermining that distinction will be a lasting legacy of generative AI.

This holiday season (and beyond), don't forget that there are so many little ways to be kind and considerate and thoughtful and good that can make such a massive difference to other people. Your tiny gesture or little act can really make someone's day.

YOU DUMB FUCKS. THIS IS ME.

I have a scooter. I can walk. I can't, however, walk through 80 miles of airport. I can walk onto an airplane or through hallways. I can't walk the .5 mile to the convention center.

People, get smarter, it's embarrassing at this point.

I cosign Kieron's statement: "I ran it poorly, however. The game just runs poorly."

it sure does

I learned about Roadside Picnic through the TTRPG Heart's list of inspirations, and I can certainly see the influences. Great concept, a pretty breezy read, and it really came together for me in the final chapter.📚💙

Israel has made Jews around the world infinitely more unsafe. Antisemitism is on the rise, and its insanity inducing to see leftists and neonazis agreeing that Jews are the problem in the wake of a mass shooting — when the core issue is Imperialism and settler colonialism.

Historian of eugenics here. I don't normally like to retweet bad arguments, but this is such a fundamental misunderstanding of eugenics, I think it's important to point out. I don't have time to debunk all of the ways this is inaccurate, but I'll highlight a few things and then recommend some books🧵
