So there is already an ai-generated whitewashing campaign to bury the name of the Muslim man, Ahmed al Ahmed, who disarmed one of the Bondi Beach shooters, and replace his identity with a white guy name and that’s why even a thimble of our potable water powering this tech is too fucking much.

This is one of those things that once you see it, you see it everywhere. Thought I was exaggerating when I commented that we were telling anyone w/ mobility challenges to stay home for 2 weeks until the snow melts, but here were are going into the 3rd week of impossible conditions for many. #yycbike
Winter is one of the best times to educate people about car-centric policies because when it's snowy you can clearly see how little our cities care about anyone not traveling in a car. Even if you're not some activist, someone walking in winter can appreciate how much an unplowed sidewalk sucks.
This was a choice, not by the person walking but by the decision makers who refuse to prioritize them.

Attacks on diversity, equity, and inclusion are the canary in the coal mine.

Now, the U.S. Coast Guard no longer considers swastikas, nooses, or the confederate flag symbols of hate.

This is indefensible.

Once again, the main day of Tea Party protests had about 300,000 nationwide, but saw endless coverage.

The No Kings protests had about 7,000,000 nationwide, and many media outlets reacted with a yawn.

No Kings was nearly 25x as big as the Tea Party but the Tea Party got 25x the attention.
Ask yourself this: How would the New York Times have covered the protests if it had been seven million MAGA supporters flooding the streets? We don’t even have to guess: We know how they and other mainstream outlets covered the Tea Party protests during Obama’s first term.

Okay, so admittedly the first Tron was a critical and box office flop, and the second Tron was also a critical and box office flop, but I have some high expectations for this new Tron starring a man who exclusively makes critical and box office flops!

in point of fact, FDR’s open line of communication with black leaders like A. Philip Randolph absolutely strained his relationships with southern lawmakers and he did it anyway under the view that he was president for the whole country
to be more specific, although FDR had to play ball with southern segregationists in congress, he did not do so by sacrificing black voters in the urban north to their whims.

People who are not good people frequently want to believe the artists and creators they idolize hold the same opinions and positions they do, and get very shirty when they are told by informed sources that they are in fact very wrong about that
He was very good in person with his trans fans too. Growing up going to SF cons, I met many trans people before I even knew what trans meant. I gave my parents very little they needed to accept in their child, so they had lots left over for everyone else. 😉 www.thepinknews.com/2021/08/06/t...

Part of what's great about One Piece is that almost every horribly sad backstory is setup for characters overcoming all their hardships and never letting it break them.
