No the bollard has been vandalised and stolen multiple times. Rather than replacing the same bollard for it to be stolen again, officers are looking at a more robust solution.

Monitoring changes in UK temperature

To (almost) no-one’s surprise, multiple sources of data agree on the long-term trends in UK temperatures.

Slightly baffled that the council has already integrated Elm Row-style pavement parking into their design for what's supposed to be a public space.

It's going to be chaos without any bollards. That pram's going to get runover by a double-cab pickup truck.

We've began work on our £3.5m transformation project of Queensferry High Street and the town centre.

These improvements will create a safer, more accessible, and vibrant environment for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.

We ask everyone outside of the car to be safe so that drivers can be dangerous.

That’s the entirety of our approach to road safety.

This is American nonsense designed to keep you locked into your isolated, depressing, car-dependent lifestyle.

I know this because I am an expert in urban cooling.

Here’s one of my articles about it...

The council have included actual design overlays for the new Dundee Street Active Travel Project.

This is great, super detailed and easy to understand!

Keep it up @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social

We’re looking for your views on our plans to improve provision for walking, wheeling and cycling along Dundee Street and in the wider Fountainbridge area.

The consultation is open until 12 January 2026.

As Chair of the North London Waste Authority’s Member Recycling Board I prohibited export of recyclates beyond the U.K, except for glass and card, which I prohibited from being exported beyond Europe.

Brexit - which has been a disaster - isn’t the main or even partial issue in this instance.

They are proposing to remove every part of existing pedestrian protection while maintaining existing levels of parking and vehicle access. It will work exactly as designed

Move the cyclist between the 2 cars in the background and you can see a fundamental flaw The Council ignored. It doesn't change the fundamental design of the street and you STILL risk being doored/or close passed. Only confident/experienced cyclists will use this @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social
A visual of Queensferry night street. There are two cyclists in the foreground and 3 pedestrians walking. There is a car in the back ground driving away and a car parked at one side.

Wider sidewalks, protected bike lanes, narrow car lanes, bulb-outs, speed bumps, transit-only lanes, and an end to subsidized street parking would do more to defeat fascism than anything else we could do, or are doing.

It's not just that drivers are, by far, the biggest threat to urban residents.

Also: This was me leaving for my 10am haircut this AM. I arrived right on time bc it’s literally across the street.

Genuinely don’t know how I’d fit in my FT job, consulting job, kids, volunteering, friends, fun, if I lived in a place that required me to waste so much of my time driving.

And this plan does nothing to resolve the car problem.

@edinburghcouncil.bsky.social @stephenjenkinson.bsky.social

I quite regularly ride out to S. QF on a Sunday and yes it’s absolute mayhem. Maybe a km of cars parked up the hill, drivers using their horn at cyclists. Cars looping the sea front.

How to relieve traffic congestion, guaranteed:

Support density, sidewalks, protected bike lanes, and high quality public transit. Give people more reasons to stay out of cars and the road will open up to you.

Passed through Queensferry on a sunny Sunday and it was literal carmageddon. Cars littered everywhere, blocking every nook and cranny. High time they were banned from a large proportion of the High St
blackfordsaferoutes.co.uk
“Traffic” is not a force of nature, but a product of human choices - it doesn’t “have” to go “somewhere else”

This is because people switch modes (walk, cycle, bus) when those are made attractive, or shop locally (to avoid making a car journey) etc

It’s not a zero sum game
edi.bike
Studies of LTNs show that in the majority of cases, traffic is not displaced only to boundary roads but a lot of it is regionally displaced as folks find another route that works for them: in short, they are typically successful in their aims rather than only moving traffic to their perimeter.

Hardly "transformation" The Council lost Sustrans funding as it has too much car parking, retains vehicle access at all times, squeezes a tiny unprotected cycle lane and protects no pedestrian spaces from vehicles. A massive waste of money and only adds to the Council's "opportunity missed" list
