in retrospect there's some ominous foreshadowing from my middle school lunch table debate days whenever the Republican kids would argue that Sweden's universal healthcare only worked because they were "homogenous societies"
i've had this theory since middle school that any given Republican is less than five questions away from "black people are genetically inferior and the law should reflect that" or shyly quitting the conversation and it's never been disproven

it's all the same fight we've been having since Jamestown

THIS IS WHAT REAL RESPECTABLE CONSERVATIVE INTELLECTUALS ACTUALLY BELIEVE.
look it's very simple we have this antisemitism problem because our society is too cosmopolitan and lacks proper roots
Folks, would you believe me if I told you JD Vance was over there railing against the immigrants as the reason for the antisemitism

disgusting and reprehensible, but also targeted to a dwindling group of frothing racists and trolls on twitter. the median voter doesn’t want DHS tweeting at all, let alone gutter racist shit for christmas. this is miller’s work again.
The third time in 2 months that the official DHS account has tweeted a Nazi term which means "ethnic cleansing" of all people of color from America and Europe.

we are going to win.

it will take all of us working together.

but these fascists are bound to lose.
this shit doesn’t even appeal to most republicans, this is for a comparatively small group of absolute loser racists, it’s the same kind of utterly tone deaf scumbag behavior that’s putting the whole admin at nixon-at-the-end popularity levels in the first year of the term

Even worse, they are proposing to:

❌️ limit the number of subsidised trips a user can take
❌️make it harder and more bureaucratic to use
❌️limit it to wheelchair users only
❌️exploit Uber drivers more

It's a sh*tty proposal and will severely limit the ability of disabled ppl to get out and about

$50k is chump change at the govt level. This is pure anti-science covid cooker bullshit.
Now that it's public: RIP FluTracking, which I understand only cost $50k per year to administer, yet provided incredibly valuable and irreplaceable information on levels of influenza-like-illness.
What an utterly dim decision.

Primary every Democrat, jesus christ what good are they.
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

It is a breathtaking demonstration of the opacity and impermeability of the conservative bubble that they think the comparison of responses to Kirk's and Reiner's respective murders redounds well upon them, to say nothing of their choice to lionize Kirk in life and death, rather than Reiner.

Adding to that, I don't notice the entire left insisting without evidence that Reiner was killed for his political beliefs by far-right operatives, but I did see the Republican president approvingly suggest it.

When exactly is the grim vengeance rally thinly disguised as a Reiner memorial, again?
Apart from the fact the leader of the right mocked Reiner, one small difference is that Reiner's day job was making movies that people loved, while Kirk's starting point was creating enemies list of professors to be fired or harassed. These are not the same things.
