That's been my experience listening to old folks at clinics. "Why are they messing with these poor people? Aunt hurting no one if a guy wants to act like a lady. Leave 'em alone and mind your own business. They're the creepy ones wanting to look at little kids' bits, but that's just what I think.'
Talking to a relative over Christmas who said she was leaving the WI over "this trans nonsense". It sent a cold rush through me, until she continued; saying that one very loud transphobe on committee was dominating meetings & she & many others were sick of it.
