I’m not kidding when I say these weird ass costumes and antics are actually an extremely effective tactic from a media standpoint bc when enough people do them, the media can’t fully scrub them out

Bloomberg research found wholesale electricity up ~270% in areas near data centers

It doesn't seem like nearly enough people are taking it seriously

One A.I. image isn't too much energy, but 5 million videos? Per day/hour/minute whatever. It's not sustainable

AI Data Centers Are Sending Power Bills Soaring
Wholesale electricity costs as much as 267% more than it did five years ago in areas near data centers. That’s being passed on to customers.

I think if you work for ICE you are probably not going to see heaven, but there is still time for redemption if you start breaking computers and amassing evidence to prosecute your coworkers en masse. Betraying your coworkers is, in fact, the least evil thing you could do now.

I feel like the conflation of celebrity with artist has led to a lot of incredibly boring people with 0 courage becoming famous and endless hot takes being posted about these boring people.

I grew up going to Zabar's. So many of my childhood memories center around the best lox in NYC (which is saying something). With Saul Zabar's passing today, the Upper West Side has lost a legend who turned his parent's humble store into a culinary institution.

I would remind folks that among the reasons Stephen Miller is saying crazy crap on Twitter is because he's losing in the courts, both judicial and public opinion.

On this, just remembered that I heard a story once about how an author’s friends got together and gifted her a years salary so that she could write her book without having to worry about money. The author was Harper Lee and the book was To Kill A Mocking Bird.

Anyway, I tell the young people I work with that the time-void is one of the best tools they have at their disposal. The time before you release your work into the world, when no one is waiting for it, you get to live in the play of creativity. I wish I had taken longer on my first book.

Given today’s news, I was recently introduced to this piece by Patricia Routledge, and i always found it really moving.
**"I'll be turning 95 this coming Monday. In my younger years, I was often filled with worry - worry that I wasn't quite good enough, that no one would cast me again, that I wouldn't live up to my mother's hopes. But these days begin in peace, and end in gratitude."**
My life didn't quite take shape until my forties. I had worked steadily - on provincial stages, in radio plays, in West End productions - but I often felt adrift, as though I was searching for a home within myself that I hadn't quite found.
At 50, I accepted a television role that many would later associate me with - Hyacinth Bucket, of Keeping Up Appearances. I thought it would be a small part in a little series. I never imagined that it would take me into people's living rooms and hearts around the world. And truthfully, that role taught me to accept my own quirks.
It healed something in me.
At 60, I began learning Italian - not for work, but so l could sing opera in its native language. I also learned how to live alone without feeling lonely. I read poetry aloud each evening, not to perfect my diction, but to quiet my soul.
At 70, I returned to the Shakespearean stage - something I once believed I had aged out of. But this time, I had nothing to prove. I stood on those boards with stillness, and audiences felt that. I was no longer performing. I was simply being.
At 80, I took up watercolor painting. I painted flowers from my garden, old hats from my youth, and faces I remembered from the London Underground. Each painting was a quiet memory made visible.
Now, at 95, I write letters by hand. I'm learning to bake rye bread. I still breathe deeply every morning. I still adore laughter - though I no longer try to make anyone laugh. I love the quiet more than ever.
**I'm writing this to tell you something simple:**
**Growing older is not the closing act. It can be the most exquisite chapter - if you let yourself bloom again.**
Let these years ahead be your *treasure years*.
You don't need to be famous. Y…

Nearly 10% of humanity (~800M people in 2025) struggles to live on less than $3 a day. It’s important for Americans to appreciate that reality — and the growing gap between the extremely poor & the extremely privileged — because, as USAID demonstrated, our nation has the power to change it.

What Extreme Poverty Looks Like
Ten percent of humanity struggles to live on under $2 a day. That, and the gap between the extremely poor and the more privileged, is important to see.

If you have two minutes free right now, call Netflix and leave a comment in support of this programming and ask them to stand up for their shows against political pressure.

Phone number is 1-866-952-4456, and I waited less than a minute before a human picked up.

1. Led by Elon Musk, the far-right has exploded in a campaign to get Netflix to remove shows with queer and trans characters.

If Netflix capitulates to their demands, an already strained market for LGBTQ+ animators might become even more dire.

Military clothes were historically designed for function, not fashion. High-waisted pants kept shirts tucked and allowed for better mobility. The Ike jacket was inspired by British battledress, which involved a cropped jacket that felt comfy when driving. Why change?
